Smart over Lowry on peak both both have very long primes.

Hopefully when the NBA does their 50 greatest floppers of all time both are 1st ballot. Smart should be unanimous GOAT. Some of his best ones I ain’t even mad in fact it’s impressive to put that kind of acting and passion into it.

The fish flop is the best one ever! (He actually hurt himself that’s dedication to your craft)

The Lowry one is such a bad gif to try and hold against a guy. In slow motion everything looks like a flop, but it certainty is not a flop to react to almost taking a smack to the face.

Nah it’s a flop. Great performance on the sell.

Reddick got the ball the only thing Lowry got was his own hand to the face.

It’s fine acting work to put your hand over your eyes twice on the way down and land comfortably....... probably means he’s fine don’t you reckon?

What goes around comes around.

It really isn’t a flop. I didn’t even notice Lowry actually hits his own face. Play that play in normal speed and it looks fine. Smarts however does not lol

People need to stop throwing everything into slow motion. You could take a kick in the groin and in slow motion it looks like a flop.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

The league that caters to its offensive players.
Jordan rules, banned handcheck all benefited the NBA offensive superstars.

Why punish crafty players now?

People say players like harden, Trae, luka etc are baiting to get fouls called. I always saw that as being crafty. If u fall for it then play better more disciplined defense.

It's kinda like adding a rule to prevent crossovers cause defensive player fell for a hesi and got crossed.
Is that much different from baiting for fouls?

One thing I do agree that needs to be removed is the stopping in spot when players are behind you . I think that's really obvious. But driving to basket with full stretched arms hoping to get hacked for a foul is fine by me.

If they are so crafty then they will crafty themselves into playing within the new rules.

Shoving people at the rim is not defense

This has been happening to post players for years. It's not new.

Rules are way better, games are faster, more fluid. Players are taking more chances offensively and defensively, because now you have to do something to score and your not getting penalized for defending. Also, I have noticed players complaining less because now the NBA has it clear that fouls are just the icing not the cake itself.

Another great thing is it's giving Refs less agency in the game, the less they have to call the less mistakes they make. Now if we would just make those dumb transition fouls go away that would great.

That's a FLOP if I've ever seen one! And what smack to the face? This is a sport, not the ballet.

Monty McCutchen, the NBA’s vice president of referee development and training, said Tuesday afternoon that he’s pleased with the league’s progress toward eliminating foul calls on non-basketball moves. But he added that his officials are still working to strike the right balance between not calling those non-basketball moves and missing some defensive fouls, and that the league is still committed to offensive players not being held and grabbed — what the league refers to as “freedom of movement.”

The NBA can make this really simple allowing "freedom of movement" to everyone except the ballhandler, which literally already every other group sport does. Promotes teamplay, less iso nonsense, and foul baiting because the person with the ball will always be disadvantaged. While also highlight stars even further, because if you can beat your man without "freedom of movement" then well you are a superstar.

Let's be honest ... there's also a whole string of "inside" foul baiters that are crying too - Tatum, Embiid, Randle, Lebron, Doncic everyone's free throw totals are down. Embiid just lived at the line last year - it spoils all flow.

This rule was supposed to eliminate only the foul hunting jump INTO the defense shot. Now refs don't blow the whistle on simple easy fouls. Teams with good physical defenders can abuse this "no foul" stunt by the refs. Really frustrating when something is supposed to help and end up doing the contrary. Totally agree.

The new rules are great. Talent will win more, and who wants to watch basketball with all the stoppage in time? It's such a turn off and it's not fluid natural basketball

Fouls were never supposed to be what they were in the last few years. This is how it should be

Rule changes were needed, Netball had become more physical than the NBA and the product was unrelatable to fans.

You just have to see how young players were emulating stars.

Jordan - Driving to the hoop or pulling up for the mid range
Iverson - Them handles and fist step
Kobe - Similar to Jordan
Dirk - With the fadeaway
LeBron - Bully bull (hard to emulate for casuals)
Harden - Jump into people and expect the bailout. (Rec leagues aren't going to put up with that nonsense, unrelatable to fans)

Not really. I’m asking the refs to call what they see. They are not calling real fouls and are overdoing it. You can literally push people at the rim and get away with it

The game has been called overly soft for so long. I'm fine if they go a little too far the other way. Basketball is supposed to be a physical sport, and guys like Harden/Luka/Trae have made a mockery of the sport.

Refs are still working on it, they are missing some calls that they should be making, but they are laying the groundwork and then they can hopefully adjust from there.
