Ford has no big ties to the Pistons and all the automakers are pushing EV's so I don't think that has any real bearing. Not to mention that even if Ford did have big ties to the Pistons, the Pistons' marketing people wouldn't surmise that, as some sort of homage to Ford, most people would think "lightning = electricity = EV = buy one = buy Ford."
It's just the lightning bolt from one of their old jerseys. The one in the pic above actually that was posted of John Long.
Actually that was supposed to read "wouldn't," not "would" (and has now been corrected).
I'm certainly aware that the lightning bolt has been used before. Just helping to educate the masses.
