Luckily it is in fact still a foul and can be called a flagrant. Just more "currygoat" nonsense that somehow it isn't a foul.

Like when LBJ jumped under Jokic in the bubble playoffs in front of refs & it was a no call. (Re: LAL1947)

Otherwise this is a totally flagrant foul & someone is pulling that out of nothing to support their invalid take.

I mean refs do miss calls and the bubble was before the rule change so I'm not sure what the point your making is.

Well it's good they're over correcting for now, which always happens with the new "point of emphasis" rules. It'll even out over time and the game will be better as a result. Also continuation is by far the least consistent call in the game. It's a flat out joke and might as well not exist at this point.

So far, it's been way more enjoyable to watch than recent years.

i was told anyone who said the game was being ref'd ridiculously and megasoft for the last decade was just oldmanyellsatcloud.jpeg

is there a meme for zoomers witnessing decent basketball for the first time in their lives and loving it (yet surely not admitting they were wrong of course)

The new rules are indeed bad.

They make the reffing more subjective.

Refs now have more leeway to award superstar calls and ignore contact on role players.

dont think anybody was denying these gimmicky fouls needed to change. Most of the conversation is about handchecking and overall physicality, which hasnt really been changed this yaear (except for some missed calls as refs adjust to these points of emphasis)

Wow!! The numbers of posters seeing real basketball for the first time is alarming. Welcome to NBA basketball!

The recreational “soft” league is gone.

Ahh, I saw his post and assumed the referees were now letting that go. Good to hear that's not changed.

Giannis is doing fine.

Cause he always earned his trips to the line without theatrics. Went through years of getting no calls on obvious fouls.

... and good on the refs, if they are just refusing to call the "I got the guy off the ground ... now I'll jump into him" bull.

What are you even talking about? I'm sorry that the salt is weighing you down.

You'd think Giannis was Corey Maggette. He just draws fouls driving because people are afraid to give up that basket. They'd rather make him shoot FTs. Problem is he's hitting them (again) as of the playoffs.

What's going on?

What "salt" are you talking about?

I was agreeing with you. You seem to be arguing with me though.

Giannis still gets his free throws cause they are actual fouls. The list of guys I made - foul baiters - are down. Who wants to watch Embiid live at the line cause he keeps jumping into the guy guarding him? When Giannis jumps into someone, it's because they are between him and the basket ... and he's about to dunk on their head ... not to get a cheap foul.

too bad buddy

while some things will eventually even out the overall reception of the new rules have been overwhelmingly favorable. and guess what, the general interest public, which is the demographic the nba wants, doesn't care because it doesn't notice.

all that foul baiting is kaput and that's great. here's one i'm glad is gone....a player stopping in front of a trailing player and getting a baiting foul. beverly used to live on that foul. and if the officiating is letting things go that's because it's still feeling it's way around but better if it remains if you ask me. players should play and stop crying

Product is so much better even if you blatantly ignore some of easier fouls. It makes game far more consistent as well. Instead of having different rules for the last 2 minutes of the game you have same rules for entire 48 minutes and I love it. A lot of manufactured stars getting exposed this year.

This is why when some people say many modern day stars would be barely stars on previous eras, and you know they are right.

With Lakers you probably have the effect of more stars playing together so they will naturally not call as many fouls on them anyway even with last year's rules. We see this always when stars join up.

Allowing defence to actually be played, at even this minor level, is long past due. Good changes

The rule they need to fix is to stop guys sliding in at the last second to try and draw a charge. It’s not good defense and it’s an injury waiting to happen as seen here

Either contest the shot or get out of the way, I’ve hated this play for the longest time

Even worse are the guys who pull the Battier move and stand in a guy's landing spot after he takes off for a shot in the paint trying to get a charge. Refs are almost never concerned with whether the defender got there after the shooter left the ground. Lowry is probably modern king of the move.

While new rules take away from today's offensive players.

Everybody should be laughing at you for thinking that the term "Jordan rules" has anything to do with league mandated guidelines.

Is there a way to keep OP posting exclusively on twitter and not on here? Anyone have his father's or mother's number?
