We have the role defenders we just didnt have last year.... Brown is great but when its just him you set a pick and a switch and then brown is off their good scorer.

this year we have bembry/carter/johnson/milsap and mills plays tough too at times. we get 2 or 3 of those guys on at once and it generates much better D. I also thing milsap/alridge are respected vets with no rings who are keeping these guys accountable for hard play

We did it in all phases... offense, defense, transition, rebounding, threes, finishing, and communicating on all of those pick and rolls (we barely switched them). we withstood their runs and pulled away and held the lead. just great all around vs. a playoff team coming in playing well. my thoughts...

1) Joe Harris obviously found his shot, but I though his defense was unreal... and not like "good for joe" but good for anyone. he can switched on Trae multiple times, held his own, forced turnovers, deflected/blocked a shot and really helped on the glass in a few contested situations. Usually we want Joe to just hang in on D, but he was a huge boost defensively today.

2) All that talk from ESPN that Harden needed to score tonight...no... just... NO espn. 1st half atlanta was double teaming him out near mid court trying to get it out of his hands early. he made the high IQ play to push to one side and swing it back... that got Joe and blake a ton of open threes on "hockey assists". Blake was kinda cold but joe was on tonight and alot of those threes was harden taking the smart patient play of the hocket assist there. second half they switched on him and he cooked with the step back three and getting in the lane and then kicking out to shooters. i thought harden played perfet based on how atlanta defended him.

3) The effort on the glass was playoff level. you can tell someone has been in their ear and they responded as a team. props to Nash for sure. I also wonder if vets like milsap and aldridge were harping on this too. id assume their presence helps there not just on the floor.

4) I LOVE that we are utilizing 4 to 8 minute streches 1 or 2 times a game of MULTIPLE dog defenders. The Carter/Bembry/Brown lineup infuses energy. We went 1-7 to start that quarter but add 2 points to our lead because those guys created havoc and got stops and to the line.Bembry and carter both got deflections/steals as soon as they got in. Brown was great all night, helped keep Trae young quiet. I said it in the offseason, these guys will help big time. we have stoppers now, even if they are low minute role guys. last year this game is close. last year maybe we lose the pacers game. these guys help grind it out. help us maintain leads and prevent bad teams from coming hanging with us.

5) Patty Mills was big late. 2 threes to keep it at 14-16 points when they started to hit some shots and try and come back. Another huge addition.

6) uniforms and court are hot fire

7) Maybe some more good news on the Horizon as eric adams stated he is going to revisit the vaccine mandate on January first. he already spoke about being optmistic Kyrie will play. im fair certain he is going to change it so athletes can play with 2 negative tests.

things are looking up.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who noticed how hard Joe was competing on defense. This was by far one of the best games I've ever seen Joe play on both ends. Someone got in his ear

And God yes. The attention to the defensive boards was top tier.

You have to put Mills in with the Bembry/Brown/Carter dog unit. Patty competes hard on both ends. Hard hat, lunch pail, and boots.

It may be idealistic of me, but I can't help but think that those uniforms also gave the team some extra umph. They looked awesome out there

I agree. the stats may not bear it out but patty is always right in the middle of a deflect, a steal, a loose ball. he plays tough. i can add him to the dog pound for sure...

and yea, wears those unis until we loose. it adds 10 swagger points

Not only did we rebound well, but we did it vs the leagues best rebounder

Yep and we are 2-2 versus our top opponents.

KD is in MVP form and Harden is quietly rounding into form. Aldridge looks amazing. Mills is a super 6th man. Bembry and Brown are the DOGS.

Solid game. Much more balanced with the additions made and we have depth. Any team missing a star guard would be struggling. Aldridge, Mills, Bembry and the resigning of Brown was brilliant. Plus we have Carter, Johnson, and Millsap adding depth. That’s pretty incredible. Iam not worried about Harden he is such a great table setter and knows how to get the players involved. If he averages over 10 assists this team is going to win way more games than if he scored those points himself. It makes for an engaged and happy team. I have my fingers crossed for Kyrie. Adding him would be really scary.

Wow.

Warriors, Raps, Bulls and Cavs will give us a fight but I think we can win. Pistons, Magic, Pelicans, and Thunder are dog food.

I think we need to beat the Warriors. That will send a message. Bulls and Raptors i feel are just early season beneficiaries.

Cavs i dont fear and i still think the bulls are a lotto team.

first 2 weeks teams play above their weight class. now that we are 9-12 games in, things should normalize.

Pistons on the road is a chance for a look ahead/let down. last year we'd lose that game. we need to focus

raps look good. hopefully scottie sits. he looks unreal

10+ assists from Harden a night is a minimum 20 points generated along with whatever he scores himself.

Regarding Kyrie, I don't want him to be given an exemption, but if the new mayor imposes strict testing for unvaccinated athletes prior to game time, I'm fine with that.

Meaning, hardcore q tip test up the nose into the blood brain barrier in the morning, and rapid test before every game.

If Kyrie can withstand that before every homegame, i will take my hat off to him, because he's truly crazy.

I’m actually legit concerned if Kyrie is even gonna be good once he gets back, given that he hasn’t played basketball in such a long time. I feel like he’s gonna be out of shape, and even more prone to injury, a lot like Harden last year, which means all of this anticipation for him might be for nothing if he turns an ankle cuz he tries to make a move but he’s carrying a little extra weight or isn’t as quick as he would like to be.

Feel like a legit shot at the championship is up in flames already, cuz Kyrie decided to die on the wrong hill.

Kyrie is a freak. He'll be fine if he comes back. Still I have little confidence the team is willing to wait 2 months for a potential mandate change that might not come.

I also don't have much confidence in Kyrie even wanting to play if they make an exception. I have less confidence that he'll come back with a positive attitude if he does come back. This is a moody and difficult guy to deal with when things are great - imagine the attitude after being banned from the team.

Awesome game today. KD is ridiculous. It's weird actually having multiple defensive minded guys on the roster. Bembry was awesome and all over the place. If we could find the balance between mixing in spacing with our defenders, we're in business.

Also props to LMA. I didn't think he could hang in a PNR heavy matchup he was pretty damn good. He's really been giving us an offensive punch too. That jumper is so money. He's been much better than expected this year.

the run at the end of the 3rd was crazy and it pretty much won this game. KD is playing at MVP level and is just making everything. LMA is playing like a 6MOY player, his scoring and shooting is perfect for our bench and as a big. Patty came thru too. Nice win.

Did you just quote yourself! Well, good, because I was going to quote BOTH of your previous posts!

A lot of folks were comparing us to Duh Nix or the Lakers, when their schedules thus far don't compare to ours in terms of quality of opponent. The next 3 weeks will tell the tale, and as you mentioned, we're positioned to reel off a number of W's. We still gotta go out there and play em, but I could easily see us winning 8. One of Toronto or Chicago is a loss, I'm betting the Bulls since they are hotter and the 2nd night of that back to back. Golden State comes here, but it's the first night home after a long road stretch, and they're looking dangerous. Otherwise, I think we're equipped to win the rest of the games. Plus, we *should* get Nic back at some point this month. I hope we give him extra time off, to recover AND bulk up. He desperately needs another 5-8lbs of lower body muscle, to box out and not get pushed aside like a turnstile.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Ugh this reads as a punch to the gut since I agree with all of this. The dream scenario is him looking at the team playing in those jerseys and him wanting to do the same and he gets vaccinated immediately, but that just won't happen.

Early in the season to see there's still room for improvement (with or without Kyrie), but Nets fans should definitely enjoy this win.
