Scottie is likely still 1-2 weeks away from returning.

Don't rush him back. Let the thumb heal completely so it doesn't become an ongoing issue.

TBH for most rookies maybe, but for a guy like Scottie I think maybe its the opposite and this is ideal for getting Siakam back up to speed, and then figuring out how we're gonna have him coexist with Scottie afterward

On face value, yeah I want Scottie starting, but I don't think its the worst thing to have a fluid matchup based starting lineup for a few games/weeks while we figure out how guys fit together - as long as Scottie gets 30+ mpg (which I don't think is even in doubt, given how Nurse is talking)

I say a 'guy like Scottie' because he's obviously not a rook who will have any issue coming off the bench on an ego level, but also because I'm not as worried about things like rhythm or not being able to acclimate to a dynamic/inconsistent game-to-game role as a starter 4/5 in a small ball line up one night, a 'big' lineup as a point forward/pseudo pg the next and coming off the bench in between those games. Personality and chemistry wise, he's been such an instant lockerroom favorite and glue guy that I also don't think anyone is going to have an issue with a rook 'taking their spot' in the starting line up when that time eventually comes ....and Its obvious to everyone that he's going to be a starter - one way or another - by the end of season.

Barnes can and will adjust to whatever new situation he is facing. The offense has no plays for him yet, he gets 15-20 a game just by being talented.

Looks like Scottie is gettin evaluated once the squad is back in Toronto. Hopefully he only misses another game or so and then is good to go.
