Re: Sarver ESPN story
Yeah
I’m aware that it was 40 yrs ago… quite aware. But it’s still in the time frame of anyone 50+ . And still the point is how far back do you go? Is there a reasonable statute of limitations for language?
And yeah, McDinglenutz is butthurt… but no, I’m not suggesting they are lying. I’m not even bothering to read this article. It’s a hit piece. So be it.

I sit and watch the really old movies with my wife on Turner Classic Movies and am astounding by the blatant racist scenes in the movies from the 40's to 60's. Remember the kids who grew up watching these old movies were born in the 30's and are now 80 to 90 years old. It is only recently that blackface was deemed inappropriate. See how long it takes for cultural norms to shift.
Of course, I still think Aunt Jemima is just a fricking good cook and got shafted when she was replaced.

Re: Sarver ESPN story
Personally, I don't think the article was that great of a read. It was clunky and a lot of innuendo about who said what. Lots of hurt feelings and what not but aside from the gross use of the n-word, and posting what a sh!# head he is as a human, it didn't really deliver the punch that I was thinking it would. I wonder if the article was like a three part expose if it would have been a better read? What they threw out here is just a bunch of random statements made by people who are not a part of the organization anymore. It doesn't really have a huge grab for me either. I want to feel for the people involved, but it is presented and then moved over so quick that I really don't feel anything. Sarver should go just for being a tyrant tho.

I said this as well. Sarver better send Jordan Schultz a fat check because he helped out Sarver a ton.

You make eloquent points as usual, though I'm disappointed that you didn't have any cute nick names for Sarver like you do Ayton.
Anyways, I'm sure Bobby appreciates you. Have you given any thought to perhaps making a go fund me for his possible legal defense? This sounds like it might involve lawyers.

Was there a time in the last 17 years when this was ok to say in a professional setting? I personally find a lot wrong with woke and cancel culture when used as a weapon in the wrong or undeserving context but are we really defending this?
If that exchange is true, it is by far the worst part of the article and that alone should "cancel" Sarver.
I too am not big on "cancel culture" but this allegation is in line with what Sterling said.
Depends which N word he used, if he used the one ending in "R" then yes that is really bad but I would think that he used the N word ending in "A" which is not necessarily a derogatory word depending on how you use it.
It still shows poor judgement though and you would want the owner of your sports team to exercise better judgement something which Sarver has been lacking since day one.

You haven't read the article but came here to defend Sarver anyway?
Odd to say the least

One is worse than the other but neither is appropriate especially in a professional setting

Look… I’m no fan of Sarver , but I give him some cred for the direction we’ve gone in the past 3-4 yrs. he’s backseated it
So I read the article…. Seemed like a tabloid read. The important names backed Bobbie… but then again, they were important. I feel this dude is more of a rich snob asshat than anything. Unlikable pompous arrogant know it all …. Standard CEO/business owner qualities.
For all you wanting a new owner… be careful what you wish for

Yeah, was just thinking how none of this is recent at all. That really leads credence to the claim Crowley made about Baxter having a story in mind and cherry picking scenarios, harrassing people to back what he wanted to say. Then after a LONG article he puts a couple of paragraphs from Kerr and Babby and the VP backing him up.
I can't see him being forced to sell based on some of this stuff like passing a picture of his wife around or even asking why Draymond doesn't get tech for saying the N word. Or wearing extra large condoms? I'm sure no one jokes about that. Telling Watson if he worked with Klutch he was fired? They really trying to claim it's because he's Black?
Some of this stuff is weird to bring up in something that is supposed to be major with 70 interviewees. I may need to read it again but nothing about saying inappropriate stuff to female employees like harrassment, touching them, using a racist term ig towards someone at the office, etc.
Then McIdiot with a video backing Earl Watson after him bashing him after he got fired saying he never backed him getting hired in the first place.
It's so funny he says Ayton and Bridges know him and can call him...WHAT? He got fired like a month after drafting them.

I think him basically coming out in defense of everyone not Sarver is him agreeing without stating what he's seen. And it's too sensitive a topic to just come out and try to get on the right side of all this. So I believe McD is quietly acknowledging he's seen it too
Funny I thought the opposite. Him saying he was disturbed by reading it made it sound as if he knew nothing about it (even though I bet he said something bad, even if "nothing would surprise me") but I took it as him trying to sound respectful while not being able to confirm anything. I can understand him not wanting to even if he did, but just him saying he was disturbed reading it didn't make it sound he knew about stuff.

I hate when people say stuff like "it's outrageous Jordan is the only one". It's not like they are actively against it. I think the NBA would welcome it, but people have to want to buy the team. Has anyone shown any interest?
They can't just hire an owner. This guy makes it sound like he can't believe the NBA didn't hire another Black owner.

Would this be something James Jones say to make Sarver happy? Thats a pretty heavy thing to say about someone, just more he said she said.
I missed that part.

70's and 80's are literally 50-40 years ago now. We're talking about allegations from within the last decade, within the past 5 years.
I don't doubt McD and Watson have few good things to say about Sarver but are you suggesting they are bitter about their exit so they making up lies just to blast a bad owner they worked for previously? Are we suggesting everyone just butthurt so to pile on Sarver?
It's been fairly obvious McD has been this way. As for Watson, yes, I think he is too. Sarver should certainly have treated that situation better, but the whole Rich Paul thing had to do with the Bledsoe negotiation that went sour. Something went really bad there.
And I remember specifically McD saying "Bledsoe is getting bad advice" and I also remember McD saying in interviews "He never agreed with Sarver on hiring Watson" and distanced himself from Watson and now he is backing him. It's ridiculous.

Yeah Shaun King is a major race baiter. I only posted it because he is someone that is very influential especially in politics. He has a major following in the black community. Him being so loud about this Sarver thing can lead to something perhaps.
And yeah I agree they haven’t banned black people from buying teams. If Jay-Z or Diddy or Oprah or someone wanted to buy a team that’s available for sale, I don’t think the league would have a problem with it.

He sure is insecure for a guy worth 9 figures.
A real owner wouldn't engage in "locker room talk" with his front office employees, try to be "college buddies" with his players, or go on rants with his coaching staff.
A true leader shows respect, shows restraint, and if needed shows force with actions, not words.
Time for a new owner. Sarver is a assclown.
Yeah, as much as I don't know how much weight a lot of the story holds, we definitely need someone more respectable. These 20 year old players have got be like WTF?
Jerry Jones is kind of like that but he is also like the self appointed GM and carries himself 10x better.
