Re: Challenge: Create a Westbrook trade
Westbrook for Love and Cedi may work if CLE thinks they can make Russell's life so horrid that he declines that huge PO next year.
Trade for him, tell him to stay home and hope this drives him nuts and he declines to get out. Boom, saves you on the 22/23 year for Love and 22/23 and 23/34 years for Cedi.
Thats literally the only deal I can think of, and CLE still wouldnt do it IMO.

Interesting for the Lakers, definitely. Gonna have to explain why the Suns are giving a division rival an upgrade for free and taking on a bunch of salary to do it.
This. It's a weird trade that makes no sense.

Totally understand why the Lakers wouldn't, but I think that is the kind of deal they would be looking at.
This is the most interesting idea by far to me of any itt. And why wait until the deadline with Prince? I'd be flipping him right now.
If the Lakers are willing to take on the extra salary just send Prince to Houston for Gordon. Boom, instant new backcourt for the Lakers.

Hmmm this one is interesting
Denver would have no reason to do this though, they have their core, they just need to be healthy
I would likely say yes, but I would hate to lose Reaves and even Melo, who has been a sniper from catch and shoot

Why would the suns ruin their team?
I don't get that
I would agree right away and throw in 4 2nds

Probably send them 1 of Monk or Ellington to replace Kennard?
Russ, Batum, PG, Winslow??, Zubac
Reggie, Mann, ???, Isiah
They could sign Ennis, Wes, and RHJ though
Clips fans, you guys say no to this right
I think we would be legit contenders again
Bledsoe, Bazemore, Bron, Morris, AD
Nunn, Kennard, THT, Melo, Dwight

Russ, Monk, 2 wiz 2nds and a Lakers 2nd for Love, Rubio, and Cedi
Cavs save about 12m this season, get a shot to look at Monk, and a few 2nds
They do pay an extra 11m next season though with Russ (unless moved again)
Possibly a Russ buyout?
Main point is they get a few 2nds, move off of Love who has not been happy there for years, and they may even buy Russ out

Re: Challenge: Create a Westbrook trade
Lakers: Westbrook and 2027 1st round pick
for
OKC: Derrick Favors and a 35 million TPE
The why for the Lakers, a TPE that large would allow them to be very active on the trade market.
The why for the Thunder, continued hoarding of draft picks and they have cap space available, also return to home on contract with only 1.5 seasons left. Gamble on either Russ declining player option next year or buyout.

I think Presti might be able to sell 80+m in cap space for a little better return than a single 1st 6 years away.

The KP one is the only one I’d give serious thought to for the other team so far.

Re: Challenge: Create a Westbrook trade
The Clippers idea was my favorite so far. You could probably swap Kennard out for Ibaka if you’re worried about shooting/guard depth. My follow up favorite is Cleveland swapping Love/Rubio for Westbrook. Moving Sexton to a sixth man role or using him+Lauri in a trade for a fun SF would be an interesting follow up too.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Both are massively overpaid and extremely erratic 3rd stars on a good day, it’d be up to if the Mavs if they thought they could do anything with the cap from one less year of superdeal or not. If not, then really no point.

There is max and supermax, big difference. But westbrook doesnt fill any need on mavs while KP does. If mavs trade KP it would be for a starting center is my guess

Ehh, it's a medium difference here, neither gets you under the cap and neither takes you over the luxury tax. If they had the same contract it wouldn't be worth considering for the Lakers.
What team has a need for a dude in street clothes?

Clippers would 100% turn this down. I'd rather give Bledsoe the amount of usage that Westbrook would expect without gutting our depth while giving up a player the front office really likes.
Russ is an abysmal, absolutely abysmal fit with the Clippers, namely when Kawhi returns, either near the end of the year or next season. They need a point guard that is a consistent threat from three and has high basketball IQ without being a blackhole.
Reports made it clear Clippers had no interest in acquiring Russ this summer, while also not wanting him when Russ called Kawhi about coming here in the midst of FA. He's gotten older, and, worse.
Wall or finding a team that needs a tank commander may be the lone option here.

Prefer 55 games of KP over 82 with wb. Cause without kp the team is neutral, with kp its better, with wb its worse. Would rather sign a random g-league dude with decent bbiq over having wb on the team. You cant win and will onlt be frustrated with wb on the team. And clearly he is stupider then what i thought if he cant see he did somethibg wrong when he was like a dog chasing a car yesterday
