Scotty was awesome.
14 pts - 9 rebs (6 off) - 4 ast - 2 blks -
Coming back from a hand injury against arguably his toughest matchup
Relly wanna rewatch it wth an eye on Mobley felt like the Raptors were doing what they can to avoid him.

Fun game, natives were restless (all natives are like that).
Both did their thing to varying degrees, both fans should be excited for the future, not even this game basically from the second they started playing even if you don’t follow the teams and are just a fans of them both in general.
I will say I guess Suggs is no longer the aim
Before I mentioned refer to Barnes & Moble on any and all Raptors vs the people, play on a book distributor Barnes & Noble hehehe
It’s a long season, make it interesting, talk smack but try and make it at least funny (admittedly I am not) no personal stuff, besides Sexton.... He is not even hot but medium warm doo doo.

He's got some weird scary kid strength.
He bullied Sabonis to the point where their coach took him off the floor cause he didn't like the matchup.

Yup, Garland and Sexton are very ball dominant. Mobley's next step will come from demanding the ball more... he's just too laid back of a personality at times.

BARNES AND MOBLEY
I like it. These two should be attached at the hip anyways.
You could tell they both had a repeat for one another. Going at eahcother hard.

Mobley 1, Barnes 0 in the head to head match. Mobley was slightly better than Barnes today. If Mobley was more assertive offensively, it wouldn't have been even close but that will come with time.

Nice game from Mobley tonight, solid game from Barnes. They each went at each other a few times and you could tell that they each we able to bother the other a bit. Mobley's length was a bit of a factor against Barnes, but we was still able to get good looks up, they were just rimming out.
You can tell that with Mobley's athleticism, length, talent and smarts he's just scratching the surface of his potential.
The chemistry on the Raps side hasn't been good with Fred and Barnes so far this year, hopefully the Raps will figure something out though. Fred likes to hold onto the ball a lot, probe and reset...there isn't a lot of movement and he's a conservative passer. Barnes looked a bit tentative at times too, I would have liked to see him rise up from 3 when the defense was sagging. He was less effective when he tried to get something close to the rim, due to Mobley and Allen's length and the way Cleveland packs the paint. I'd love to see him get a bit more explosive, if he can, he'll be able to get more separation going past his defender.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Rookie Thread (part 2)
Re: Mobley’s “limited” offensive game so far.
He’s anchoring the defense as a rookie and playing 34 MPG. shooting about 50% from the field as an energy big. Having him handle the ball despite playing alongside 3 ball dominant guards (Rubio, Garland, Sexton) is a weird expectation and use of resources. I don’t think it has anything to do with his “passive” personality. Do passive personalities lead the league in contested shots as rookies? Nephew take honestly.
Production is important. Equally important at this juncture in evaluation - and this applies to all rookies - is traits.
If a rookie guard is able to get his shot off but it’s not falling, that’s OK. If a rookie big man is totally lost on defense and showing inability to process the game’s speed, that’s somewhat troubling. Apply this thinking regularly with rookies.

Also have to add how the team looks by deadline if I think should happen it’ll be Garland/Rubio and Mobley so there should be more opportunity for offensive diversity. There’s been glimpses of the passing/facilitating aspect but I’m sure there’ll be more to come in due time.

Yeah I don’t think Mobley is all that passive at all tbh. For someone so skinny he’s never afraid to be physical and it’s not like he’s turning down shots or giving the ball up too easily. The Cavs just have three guards who all take turns creating. Get Sexton out of here and Mobley will get more opportunities.

Mobley reminds a lot like Tim Duncan he looks passive but actually dominates games. Extremely high IQ.

Over/under 10.5 career NBA teams between Mobley and Barnes combined
I’m going over
It’s obvious both are special

Re: 2021-22 NBA Rookie Thread (part 2)
Cade's seems to be getting his legs underneath him now and his shooting is starting to come around from 3pt, thats a relief.
He's actually done a better job of being able to get to his spots on offense than I thought he would, and can get almost any shot he wants so far, he's just not making them. Once he gets some extra size/bulk he's should be able to become more of a 3 level scorer.
His length and size is a plus on defense at either guard spot so thats good.
His floater is still a move I would like to see a lot less of, and he's using his off arm too much, causing a few turnovers/offensive fouls. As far as being a point guard, I don't think that will end up being his best role. He functions better as a primary scorer but I can see him moving towards that Middleton role for the Bucks where its more of a playmaking guard.
That being said, the team is going nowhere this season so I'm happy to see them try things out and experiment, there isn't much to lose. With the rest of the roster being so bad, I think Cade could potentially emerge as the first option over Grant by midseason

you dont understand mobley doesnt have to score 20 ppg like barnes to be effective. your just arguing for raw output but my eye says they are several tiers away. mobley is not a mvp caliber now but will be very soon depending on his 3pt jumper.
barnes is not the prospect i thought hes not dishing out 5 plus assists like scottie pippen and he has no 3pt.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Cavs got something special brewing. The Young Dawgs in the back & the Twin Towers up front. 4 young studs with a ton of potential. Mobley is a superstar in the making, no doubt.
This draft class has been the biggest NBA story this year IMO. Best since '03, stacked with a bunch of special players.
Looking forward to the Cavs vs. Raptors battles for years to come, two young & exciting teams.

That was quite easily Barnes only "bad" game of the year & he still managed to put up 14p/9r/4a/2b.
Nonetheless, the first of many showdowns between Mobley & Barnes did not disappoint whatsoever.
League is in great hands!

It’ll be fun seeing the Mobley-Barnes matchup evolve through the years as both guys improve. The two supposedly raw guys near the top of the draft still have a lot of room to grow despite being the ROY leaders right now.
Barnes definitely isn’t raw from a physical standpoint, that’s for sure. That boy has a a man’s body right now, the way he ripped the ball from Allen and went after offensive rebounds tonight. Mobley’s priority definitely needs to be getting himself in the weight room right now, so that his rebounding and his ability to finish through contact can improve.
