Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
Morey has backed himself into a corner going this route. If he takes back a trade that was rumored, and likely available, months ago, he just wasted a lot of time our team could have been jelling, and a lot of energy on a situation that could’ve been avoided by reading the market correctly. As a result, he is probably inclined to see his plan through. A lot of media people keep saying he just needs to take the best deal and move on, but I think it trending the other direction.

I'm not so sure i agree??
I mean, yeah, you're right, if he end up taking a trade that was rumored before a lot of us are gonna be dissapointed and the team could had build chemistry early, yes. But by the same token, you take the trade when you can see what's the max value offered, if that value is the same that it was in the summer that's fair, but to be sure you are really seeing the max value offered you need to reach the point where the team has peak leverage and that's gonna be around january/february.
Taking that trade in the summer without knowing if the value could have been higher at other moment seems irresponsible from my point of view, even if we end making the trade for similar pieces later.
He's gonna end up being critisized to hell if he take the same value than in the summer and people are gonna say he should have traded early, yeah, but he's the GM, if he's worried about that stuff is better to just resign.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
I dont think he’ll be criticized if he just take the same offers that were offered in the summer. Because he explored taking the chance to get the best payoff.
But I think he’d be criticized if say the team is winless right now or is not projected to make the playoffs and he has to take the best offer where it seems he’s just doing it out of desperation
Morey and the Sixers have been super great in handling this situation. They made Ben and their camp as the bad guys, which they really are by their selfish motive. While the team didnt put themselves in a bad place for any Ben trade.
Morey be like.. “i dont need to trade ben, i can just hold him for years so you better give me something good. Right now, im only trading hin for a top tier star” a team like the wolves has to offer a lot more.
Morey be like.. “we need Ben to play”
Klutch.. “ben has back injury”
Then Sixers fined Ben..
Klutch be like.. “you can’t fine my client because he is suffering some mental condition/illness”
morey be like.. “poor guy, let us have our medical people check him”
Klutch is now at the corner, if they dont let Ben be evaluated by Sixers doc, they can continue to fine him.
Sure Ben can just play poorly and all that. But drag it to 4 years and you’d be playing with the Shanghai Sharks once your contract is up.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
I’m staying with my September prediction that Simmons will most likely (75%) get traded from December 15th to the end of trade deadline.
The other 25% is that he’ll be moved next summer.
And my another September prediction of a three team deal where Simmons goes to Minnesota, Ingram to Philly and Edwards, Beasley, Prince, Springer maybe a pick to Pelicans seems not that unrealistic to me today.
I will continue to root for Pelicans and Wolves to fail.

You're out of your mind if you think the Wolves would trade Edwards, nevermind Edwards + extra, for Ben Simmons. Ant is easily worth more than Ben Simmons by himself.
Also the Pelicans would be getting Edwards, Beasley, Prince, Springer, and a pick for Ingram? Who do you think Ingram is? That would be the heist of the century.

Some other posters already told me in August and September that I’m out of my mind when I said Morey won’t trade Simmons unless one of Lillard, Beal, Ingram, J. Brown, Fox, Lavine is coming here. Some posters here argued with me that Simmons will be gone before the opening night, I said no.
Morey is not trading Simmons unless it’s a difference maker. Right now two teams are struggling that have difference makers. Pelicans (Ingram) and Wolves (Edwards)
It’s not like Ingram and Edwards are top20 NBA players. You sound like I suggested Simmons for Durant.
Yeah, I know who both Ingram and Edwards are.
Edwards right now is putting 23.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 3.4 APG in his 2nd year being 20 y.o. Seems cool, but the reality is he’s shooting 40% from the field, 29.9% from three while attempting 21.8 field goal attempts.
Very bad efficiency, but their is upside, no doubt about it. Problem is, it seems Wolves ownership wants to win now, and Simmons will help them do so more then Edwards.
Now, regarding Ingram and Pelicans.
Yeah, I know who Brandon Ingram is. A player who have never been in the NBA playoffs, and been an all-star once. So, who is he exactly? What has he done to be considered a top tier NBA star?
Pelicans will be bottom 5-7 NBA team by the end of this season, so they may consider an option of trading Ingram for Edwards with higher upside, draft top rookie in 2022 and build around Zion, Edwards, and top 2022 rookie.
They’d be getting another young prospects and some picks in the deal as well.
I’d give Simmons(to Wolves) + Springer and 1st round lottery protected pick (to Pelicans) for Ingram.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
If Blazers wont hand us Dame, we should go after Anfernee Simons.
And if Blazers value Anfernee Simons, we should go after Norman Powell.
Assets im looking to trade:
Paul Reed or Bassley and first round pick for Simons
Milton and Bassley or Reed for Simons
Paul Reed or Bassley for Powell
Looking at Simons numbers, he has a good chance to breakout this season if given a bigger role and give you same or better scoring numbers than Seth does. He can be a guy who can play sort of a Manu role where you can insert him on your line-ups to have a go to perimeter scorer down the stretch on small volumes

Never thought I’d be saying this but you can add CJ to that list

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 7
I wouldnt mind getting
OG Anunoby and a pick swap or simply straight for Siakam in return for Ben.
I think Siakam is a buy low candidate also. With Barnes’ addition and Boucher itching for playing time. And I wouldnt mind giving up Springer to sweeten it for them.
Siakam attempted 6 3s a game in 2019-2020 and makes 35% while his FT% is near 80%.
If you have Siakam, you can create match-up issues for both Biid and Tobi. Siakam is familiar with the kind of offense we’re running now that is very similar with the Raps. Siakam would also solve a lot of our size, rebounding and defensive problems.

Sixers have the 5th easiest schedule and have a .333 record against winning teams
Good luck maintaining their position
Morey banks 200k PER WEEK and had one job
Fine Simmons?
Fk that
Fine Morey

Time to fine Morey
Sad but he’s not up to it
Harden & Ben have both played him
He’s a stats nerd who doesn’t understand stats
Basically a massive liability
Who’s his replacement?

He had one job in Houston and “retired” before making a decision
He’s got one job in Philly and is imposing the biggest fines in the history of professional sports while collecting 200k per week for himself
Wtf???????

Imho if Towns gets really frustrated with the Wolves not making the post season, Gupta may want to package Edwards, filler and picks in any trade (one to one or three way) to get him his friend and "Regular Season beast" Simmons.
