I did a quick google search and it says Gary Payton II has a sibling called Gary Payton Jr, but when you click on that link it shows the same person, so I question how accurate google is on the Payton family.

Gary Jr and Gary II have different mothers. Jr is older by 4 months.

Now that's something, not only did he put two women pregnant at the same time, but he named both kids Gary Payton...

I guess it's better than George Foreman who managed to get to George 6. How does that even work in a house : "Hey 3 can you help 6 with his homework while 4 and 5 wash the dishes?"

What's weird is that Foreman named his 2nd son George 3, while Gary Payton went with Gary 2. I guess there's no rule for the few guys who name all their kids after themselves.

Payton and his wife probably meant to name their first son Gary Jr. Then Payton got this other woman pregnant before his wife and this being his first born son, maybe Payton named this kid Gary Jr without his wife's knowledge.

4 months later when his wife gave birth to a boy, they can no longer name their son Jr because there's already a Gary Payton Jr.
Payton probably suggested Gary III, but his fuming wife would not settle for their son being a III while his other kid was a Jr.
Thus their son was named Gary II.

Just going by the odds should have been plenty enough. What are the odds that another Gary Payton called his son Gary Payton II and that that random Gary Payton had great enough genes to pass to his son to make the NBA?
