teams are willing to switch off guards onto him and he doesnt even look for the ball, when he gets it, hes even worse than ben. They took him out and went on a huge run against the best defense in the nba. it blows my mind that he is 30 and still cant score.

Maybe because Rudy Gobert isn't a guard? I mean, he's averaging 15 ppg on 70%+. It's not like he can't score.

Well to a certain degree it is because he is playing the correct position at center. Being not an amazing offensive threat is more forgivable at center with defense/rebound/blocks. Ben Simmons is a "point guard" who refuses to shoot. Simmon's correct position would be a point forward or even a small ball center. Gobert is taller and a better rebounder. Not saying he shouldn't get any criticism but Simmons is a guard who doesn't even attempt a jump shot. So that is why he gets more ****.

Because he's a center and not a point guard? lol

1. He's a center
2. He doesn't have the ball in his hands
3. He does, once the playoffs start his offensive limitations get exposed and we go in, it happens every year

Add that Ben insists on shooting with the wrong hand, too

Also Rondo, career .609 free-throw shooter, .457 field, 9.9 points per game :gossip:

This whole "hes a center ben is a point guard" is as all or nothing as the OP saying that Rudy can't score.

Positions matter less than they ever have, and it looks like they will matter even less in the next generation. If you can't stretch teams out and/or punish them offensively, you're a liability on that side of the ball.

Rudy CAN score, and is a great interior finisher. Hes just limited in the ways he can score, especially creating for himself and others. And that matters more in the playoffs.

A guard refusing to shoot is like a center refusing to rebound.

Rudy Gobert's career averages are

12pts on 65% shooting and 63% FT

Ben averages

16pts on 56% shooting and 60% FT

Considering their positions & roles, Rudy is probably a slightly better scorer than Ben is.

I feel you're reaching some lol, all would be good if Ben actually challenged himself to play. By the opening thread logic, we might as well talk about every player who refused to score....Ben Wallace, Rodman, Eric Snow, lost could go on...lol Any comparison to Ben is totally different

Gobert doesn’t dominate the ball and wasn’t the #1 overall pick.

Playoff Rondo is a monster.

Playoff Simmons goes the other direction.

Playoff Rondo is a monster.

Playoff Simmons goes the other direction.

Simmons playoffs = 13.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, .571 field, .520 ft (but .707 in 2018 and .575 in 2019)
Rondo playoffs = 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 8.5 assists, .440 field, .649 ft
