I mean in the first clip Harden clearly shakes him with the jab step. I didn't think that was a particularly great representation of Scottie's defense.

He seems to be having some trouble with Harden in general this game. He's been much better on Durant.

That game against the Cavs Friday was literally the kind of basketball excitement I haven't felt in awhile.

I have reverse my course on Mobley after actually watching him for a full game.

Do I still feel comparing him to KG be bad, yes.

But I saw plenty of trait, skills and habits that absolutely can be developed into elite, but even more importantly, consistently winning levels. I had an absolute blast watching him and the whole team in general.

I'm going to be watching as many CLE games moving forward because I have a vested interest in seeing how good the can get. This is a very fun team that, if they keep playing for each other, as a team, will become very good very quickly while everyone else is focused on getting stars and who can score the most.

And to whoever said Barnes picking up Harden full court eventually leading to a steal isn't that impressive?

Consider that's coming from a player who's typically one of our points leaders, our top and most aggressive rebounder, one of our top 2-3 minutes leaders, the guy always guarding the top player on the opposing team and most of all, the player who has travelled the 4th most distance covered in the entire league despite missing 2 games...

Next TOR v CLE matchup is the day after Christmas!

We should do a zoom watch party for the game lol. Would be fun to follow the game/matchup as a group and talk some trash.

Anyone watching (can’t atm) why is Barnes taking limited shots? I get the lower mins played being a rookie and all long season ahead. But still 5 shots is very low amount.

Still recovering from a sprained thumb.

He's entrusted with a lot of other responsibilities and is almost aways exhausted in the 4th quarter. Not his fault, he's just moving around at a league leading level and doing a lot.

Truthfully, his scoring this season has almost exclusively come without any plays being or or schemed to him. Mostly just within the flow of the game. Very rare for him to force it which happened a few time against Cleveland, especially near the rim.

Hopefully now that Siakam is back his burden will ease up a bit.

Because he's playing with some selfish teammates. Plain and simple.

Barnes with an 8/7/4/5stl statline . Was in foul trouble all game and for whatever reason his teammates continue to look off him when he has a favorable matchup or is wide open.

lol he's fine, and he didnt play the 3rd quarter because of foul trouble he wasn't exhausted.

He didnt play alot the 2nd half due to fouls, and nurse didnt put him back in for god knows why? probably nurse worst coached game ive seen him have as a raptor. On top of the limited minutes in the 2nd half team never passed to him, he would seal a 6 ft 3 guard right undewr the rim and get looked off. its pathetic

Barnes' first game under 10 points (only 7 shots) but still had 7 reb, 4 assists and 5 steals (including a beauty off KD).

His team-mates do what the coach establishes as the game plan.

Players on TOR don't just do whatever they want, they operate within the parameters they are given.

Nurse is simply not putting that on Barnes as of get, allowing him to focus primarily on defence, chaos, rebounding and pushing the transition, filling the pain on transition as well as staying in front of the rim, moving on offence.

I do agree, when our offence stalls we should be giving it to him as he's proven he can create something out of nothing quite easily, but tor team shouldn't have to rely on him for offence.

It's going to be a patience thing with him in terms of what his role is on offence and frankly, I prefer it. Offence is the last thing I want my developing star needing to master.

I want to first build good habits defensively, fundamentally, positionally, practice and tape wise, as well as being able to execute team gameplan and schemes.

Once a player has shown that can have all that down and bring it game in game out, then you can let them start taking more of a central role in the offensive game plan knowing they have the discipline and consistency not to get rattled from a bad shooting game.

Gotta build em up like a cake.

Is Gary Trent Jr the odd man out here? Bulls are having who are the cooks in kitchen troubles atm and in the future they are marginalizing Vucevic whereby a different center would be better off if that’s route they are going down, same with the Celtics which breeds in bad play long term.

But he doesn’t garner that sort of preference surely.

Look it wasn’t that bad tonight but Scottie should be getting 10+ FGAS’s a game to work on his offensive attributes. He is a mismatch against smaller players inside.

Achiuwa is annoying to watch. This guy think he's the 4th overall pick and not Barnes.

I guess I was speaking overall as he's literally been exhausted in most of if not every 4th quarter game this year.

I'm not making excuses for him just calling it like it is, even David Thorpe tweeted about it today.

30 minutes is more than almost all the rookies average.
