Trae Young is at the point where he can do "anything" he wants to do and just needs to figure out how to utilize his gravity to maximize his teammates.

I'm excited to see how he progresses.

I wonder if hiding his defense has gotten harder or if last year was just some luck b/c Anfernee Simons dropped 43/7 on .877ts that same game

young was guarding simons on about and handful of his buckets. he got picked on three or four of them, simons hit a long three from about 27 where young backed off and dared him to shoot and then simons actually beat him a total of one time when he penetrated, young stayed in front, simons knocked him back and hit a little push shot from about 10 feet.

nobody is going to argue trae is a great defender, but to pretend it's his fault simons dropped 43 is just ignorant (for starters, that's not really how the nba works these days with all the screens and switches, etc - nobody every really guards just one dude the entire game or really even most of the game). simons was hot that game and was taking everybody on the hawks behind the woodshed.

similarly it's not simons fault trae dropped 56.

Trae Young: Young is on pace to lead the league in pick-and-roll ballhandler scoring for the second consecutive season. After finishing ninth in his rookie season in 2018-19 at 7.8 ppg, Young has become one of the most prolific pick-and-roll scorers in the game. He finished second in the league in 2019-20 (15.3 ppg), first in 2020-21 (13.9 ppg) and holds nearly a half-point lead over Mitchell this season.

One of the most basic, yet truly effecient plays in the game.

Can't beat the pick and roll.

trae could just go for 50 and end your season
