Why aren't I seeing more talk about Lowry scoring 0 last night? I get that he's not going to be a good scorer on this team but when you're starting 2 guys who are only 3pt shooters who can't get their own shot, you can't have a 3rd starter who can't score himself.

It was bad no doubt about it. Playing the Nuggets in the first game of a 5 game west coast road trip is usually a house of horrors. Lowry and the others will bounce back. It's almost like a scheduled L. Same goes for playing @ Utah.

A loss sure, 0 points in a game that only Butler could score, not acceptable for a 27 million dollar acquisition on the 1st year of a 3 year deal.

Sucks without a doubt. He'll need to bounce back big tonight versus the Lakers. I'll give him a mulligan for this one since he was coming off a dynamic triple double.

He scored ZERO, not 3-5 points, ZERO in a game his teammates were struggling in.
As a floor general he's got to fix the situation, normally it's about getting good looks for his teammates, but when everyone is off he's got to do something on the offensive end.
Let's look at ORTG for last night for the main guys.
Lowry 29
Bam 76
Herro 93
Tucker 106
Duncan 109
Butler 141
I still don't have faith in anyone being a consistent good scorer in the playoffs other then Butler. Bam has that ability as a smaller center but doesn't have that mindset of utilizing his skillset to score against bigger/slower centers, it's either jumpers he could get off anyone guarding him or getting a pass while cutting to the basket.

MettaWorldPanda wrote:My thoughts after watching what happened last night. Kieff was frustrated thinking Bam got fouled by Jokic. A take foul in that situation was necessary but Kieff gave Jokic a little extra. Jokic went full bore into Kieff with his back turned. Heat of the moment retaliation and the league should make him pay for that. I'm guessing Markieff suffered some sort of whip lash and depending on the severity might have to miss some time. Little bit of history here to go along with it with the Morris bros and Jokic
Agree. I think Jokic was "heat of the moment justified" but he should miss a game...Kieff should get a flagrant 1 on his rap sheet. Not that big a deal, I hope no one's injured though- both shots were pretty direct to unguarded ribs/kidney. If Jokic caught a kidney, that's a legit knockout- not that he meant it. He knows he screwed up but it probably felt good at the time...He's a big guy that plays with finesse-he takes a lot of physical abuse because that's the best chance lesser guys have of slowing him down.

Re: Game 10: Miami Heat vs Denver Nuggets 11/8 Monday 9PM EST
Really disappointed in this team's performance last night. It's now overshadowed by the Jokic-Morris incident, but we were playing BAD unmotivated basketball all night. And that's what I care about.
It should always start with defense for this team. And no one seemed to be putting in extra effort or looking to make a difference on that end. We have guys that are defensive playmakers. Make a damn play! Denver seemed to get anywhere they wanted on the court all night. And on the other end, we were completely stonewalled from getting into the paint.
Lowry's zero point outing needs to be called out. But, I understand why it's not necessarily being lamented. The fact of the matter is we know we signed a 35-year old. We know he's recently been on the injury report. I set my expectations before the season even started for Lowry to play no more than 3/4 of the regular season games this season. We built this team for the playoffs. And fair or not, we need our younger guys to be the consistent engine during the regular season.
Which leads me to the player I'm most disappointed in from last night--Bam. I'm as big of a Bam supporter as you'll find, and that's why I hold him up to a high standard. Bam has a unique blend of attributes that makes him great. Two of his best attributes are his athleticism and his smarts. So why the hell is Bam getting suckered into trying to match Jokic at his own game playing slow and methodical position and leverage ball on offense? If Bam is going to hold his own in a matchup against Jokic it needs to be by taking advantage of his superior athleticism. That's his advantage. He needs to be moving a lot and blow by Jokic, not be sitting there with Jokic jockeying for position like its a rugby scrum. Bam needs to be smart enough to read the court and his opponent and leverage those opportunities. His shot wasn't falling to start the game and he seemed to become totally submissive to Jokic as a result.
Really ugly all around from everyone except Jimmy.
My big picture takeaways:
1) It needs to start with defense with this team every night. And if the other team is getting into everything they want to on the offensive end, it's going to be an ugly night.
2) We need to find solutions when teams pack the paint and essentially wall us out. It's the current blueprint to stall this offense and it's a problem.

Pretty dope pic.
All drama aside, I hope this lights a fire inside of them to play better.
Last 3 games we're 1-2 with a pt diff of about -15 with 45 turnovers and some lapses on defense which are embarrassing and uncharacteristic of our franchise.

I think good officiating goes a long way in defusing these situations.
Frustrations were mounting up and Bam being hit by Jokic with no call was the last straw.
Earlier in the game, a Nuggets player set a moving screen and Bam bumped his knee as a result. Bam was down on the floor in pain, no call. I don't even think they would've stopped the game if another Nuggets player hadn't also gone down.
Another one I recall was Spo (and pretty much everyone) witnessing a blatant travel right in front of him. He was visibly livid about it and the refs just allowed it.
You would think that the refs would say, "Okay, we missed that one, but we're gonna start looking closer at the Nuggets." Nope.
They're not making calls, our guys are getting pissed, and seeing Bam get knocked down was the final straw.
Markief was standing up for Bam and I'm proud of him, F what anyone says.

82 games ... there are going to be duds. It's going to happen. It's only a problem if it start happening in back to back games or if it starts happening with some frequency. If they bring it 90% of the time, they will be a top seed in the east. The playoffs is when you have to bring it every night.

This stretch feels dangerously close to the beginning of frequency. Losing is one thing. The effort and demeanor displayed last night concerned me. Let's see how they respond on the rest of the road trip

Just to be clear: you're perfectly fine with players coming down on other players and smacking them in the face multiple times?
You haters are something else, I swear. I honestly don't even know what you're doing here besides trolling.
Edit: here's the play where Jokic came down on Bam.
