This topic is super active for obvious reasons...
Let's set some rules, that I think 99% agree with.
- Realgm isn't full of racists, otherwise me and you wouldn't be here.
So these cheap posts that are thrown around implying folks are supporting Jokic because they're racists... are not tolerable. Sorry. It just isn't.
Not every topic has to turn into a debate around racism. I just see two players? I don't see black and white? As I am sure most do. It's just two players.
- Do not be an internet tough guy and offer to fight people. It's just dumb.
So... any further posts of the like will result in immediate suspensions.

This is not a racial issue at all, when Zaza injured Kawhi the same words were being used to describe him as the Morris brothers.

LOL..
Like I said, some people do this, most people don't.
And to Duffman, what bothers me about these situations is that people talk and say things on the internet they would NEVER say to these grown men in person. Just mad reckless left and right. You can tell the people who never got punched in the face before.
People are having discussions on a message board. If you're too sensitive and get upset by some nonsense from a random stranger maybe you shouldn't be on the internet. There are mods that do a fine job taking care of the riff raff around these parts.
As I've said, if it were one person it wouldn't be a big deal. It's a pattern that I choose to address. If me addressing these things bothers you you can beat your feet at any time. No one is forcing you to respond to me. As you can see, some do, most just ignore me because it's a conversation they don't want. I respect that.

If I could murder one person and get away with it, Bill Laimbeer would get strong, strong consideration. I'm not even sure Robert Parish got suspended for beating his ass.

I just can't understand anyone defending the Morris twins. They have made a career of being dirty and trying to injure players.
I have zero issues with Jokic saying enough is enough and standing up for himself. Morris made a dirty play, decided to walk away like nothing happened. Get real.
If this was his first or second time doing something dirty then fine, but history and context must be looked at. Dirty play gets a dirty reaction. Its about time.

You know, this whole too cool for school act would have played a lot better if you didn't pull out the race card in a case where it absolutely didn't belong, then tried to rationalize it with unrelated anecdotes instead of just admitting you jumped the gun, and then on top of everything challenging a poster to fight.

The Serbs I know are from Serbia and Bosnia, and they wouldn't hurt a fly. Serbians have this reputation as being fierce, and I'm sure some are, just like I'm sure some Philadelphians or New Yorkers or Somalians or Australians are, ya know? But people in this thread are assuming the Jokic brothers are fierce, and I'm saying, yeeeaaahhh... you have to show me proof of that lol. That said, I KNOW them Morris can and will throw hands. LOL.. It's documented going back to their high school days. They run 5 or 6 deep with their brothers, and THEY ALL THROW HANDS.
Now, I think it's time to repeat what I said earlier. When these types of threads pop up, words like dangerous and savages and anything with a animalistic characterization or trash suddenly come up. You don't hear those words to describe white players who make dirty plays like a Stockton or Laimbeer or Grayson Allen. Grayson Allen had a streak and never once was called trash or a savage. It's coded language reserved for Black people, and you should be mindful of it.
But it is savagery, and I'm sure I used that to describe G. Allen somewhere. It isn't coded language when the word has been used for centuries describing a wild man living in nature. I'm sure it's had negative implications much before American slavery. I could get you having issue with words like 'goon' and stuff that's been widely used to describe black violence or w/e, but 'savage' is not it. Can't tell people to be mindful about so many words with negative connotation like that, they're much more universal than you'd like to think.
If you used that term to describe Grayson Allen then you're in the minority. If I could nitpick I'd also say that if you used that term to describe Allen you probably would've remembered and it wouldn't be 'I'm sure I did.' It's coded language in today's society because it's used only to describe Black people, and if you can't agree with that then you just don't want to see the facts and I can't help that and don't need to bother explaining further. Savage, thug, animals etc. Read this thread and you'll see a bunch. I'm not going to belabor this. You can choose the wool if you like.
People simply use those terms because physical violence is regarded as a more primitive, less desirable form of conflict by the society and should be replaced with something less destructive. There is no replacement for those terms if you want to make an accurate description of violence that means 'coming from our primitive, animalistic nature.' Yeah, it was wrongfully theorized that black men are genetically more primitive and it caused bad consequences, but hey, Hitler interpreted Slavic people as savages too, which both Jokic and I are, and I'm still not yelling that we should ban these words because historically we've received a disproportionate amount of those insults. Sorry, can't ban words for your reasons, we'd have to filter out 99% of the negative words if people were as sensitive as you are.

I try to leave room for the possibility that I may be wrong in a situation so a quick google search led me to this thread. I only read the first 14 or so pages, but all they do is call him a dirty player. Maybe it's the situation, but Zaza was a known dirty player who injured guys. That's not to say he should be called trash, or a savage, or thug. It's just to say that he wasn't. The tone of this thread was outright glee at what Jokic did. The whole energy is different, in spite of this being a known dirty player also.
Someone did call him a scumbag though. HardenGOAT just reminded me, so that was similar.

That's a wild quote since he totally blindsided Joker with that foul.
Dangerous foul. Dangerous retaliation. Deserved ejections. That said, not sure what Morris expected when he turned his back after that. Jokic does not back down and is very very strong.

1. Knee'd Jokic's knee sideways, while he had all 280 lbs planted on that leg
2. Elbowed him in the ribs as he was going to take off into the air
It's like people only saw the shove, not the lead up to it. Watch it in slow motion, it's a setting on youtube.
The blast from behind was not.
One is part of the game one isn't.

Just because something happened in play doesn't make it part of the game. Morris' was not a basketball play yet again. He just got caught with a retaliatory non-basketball play this time.
Is there an instigator rule in basketball? If not perhaps it's one NBA can implement. May help curb these incidents.
Look. Bottom line, you might not like it, is that Morris's was a basketball play. He can claim he was going for the ball or that it was an intentional foul and am accident. Its not true, but it can be argued. Jokic has no argument.
The instigator rule is an idea with some merit. It could eliminate a situation like this. Basically what a flagrant 2 is supposed to do.

Except I'm not retracting what I said. I'm simply saying the tone changes based on race, and it's clear. Race does play a part in these conversations, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.
Glad you think I'm cool though. I try really hard.

Morris twins are trash.
Btw why t f is Jokic playing in a +17 win game, 2;40 till the end.

Basically yes to a certain degree. If the ball is in play and there is contact deemed to be against the established rules then its officiated and ruled on.mouse wrote:bubonicphoniks wrote:Youre missing the point. The foul was while the game was IN PLAY.Cubbies2120 wrote:

So if it occurs during game play regardless of how dirty a foul is its part of the game and acceptable? Morris did try to hurt/injure Jokic with 2 minutes left in a game that was out of reach. Maybe if he wasn't a spineless coward he would have confronted Jokic instead of blindsided him.

You're projecting. In this thread people have been calling the Morris brothers dirty, nobody is calling them animalistic. The same rhetoric is being used to describe Zaza. You're looking for racism.
