They used the box and 1 in the 1st half too. God I love having receipts:
Spoiler:
Here's all of the Trae Young on-ball screens in the 1st half

1st Q:
8:01 - trap
7:35 - DT, fade
6:44 - DT, fade
5:37 - DT, fade
5:10 - trap
4:40 - trap
3:59 - trap

2nd Q:
7:13 - trap, fade
6:36 - switch to B1Z (box 1 zone) note: until the team is noted out of this, the default is that it stays on
5:55 - trap
5:44 - inside DT
5:11 - deep screen, iso, reset, late help (Wiggins) -- *Looney iso on perimeter*
4:30 - DT
4:04 - DS (double screen), good help (Green) -- *Looney iso on perimeter*
3:33 Payton re-enters the game - important to note because...
2:51 - trap
2:28 - DS, trap
1:57 - DT switch back to M2M
0:21 - DT

Anyone wanna guess when the Hawks made their biggest run? Around the 6 minute mark of the 1st half, when they boosted the lead from 9 to 15, while in the box-1 defense.

And then when the Warriors went back to it in the 2nd half, Trae wasn't as hot, they went with the Capela screens more than the Collins screens. They literally used the same defense that got torched in the 1st half whenever Payton wasn't on the court, and sometimes when he was on it.

Also since it was noted in the article, Trae was met with a defender at 26 feet on average in the 1st half. He was met at 26.3 feet on average in the 2nd half. Insert 4 inches joke here.

Feel free to check the receipts. I trust these guys a lot more than coachspeak. If any difference was made, it was ignoring Capela on the roll, which is how our defense is supposed to work in the first place

Also of note: B1Z was used for 8-11 minutes in the 2nd half, out of 18 non-garbage time minutes.

It gets tricky noting when the switches are because the Hawks offense became boxy themselves, with a man at the point and 2 on each side. Especially confusing because if they were in a B1Z for the entire 2nd half as they're saying, then Lee, Wiggins, Poole and Bjelica defaulted back to man when the plays started, thus the range of time instead of the finite amount of time. Player tracking is always fun to compare to analysis, its amazing how much they dont line up

Seems the main difference is using Payton in the B1Z for 6-7 minutes in the 2nd half vs 1-3 in the 1st. Which actually does make sense because in the minutes Payton was in for it, we went on a run. Before that, we didn't and were still getting crushed by Trae

Curry and the rest of those silly players didn't even know what they were playing.

Player tracking is run by former coaches and scouts who are paid to dissect the game at a micro level, so.. kinda foolish to hold the 'professional' card over them. These aren't my opinions, these are professionals.

More receipts? Sure

3rd Q:

12 to 10:15 B1Z
10:15 to 8:03 M2M or poor B1Z
7:59 to 7:46 reset to B1Z
7:46 to 3:32 B1Z

Trae Young exits

3:32 to EOQ3: M2M after 1st play after exit was B1Z

Now of course it should be noted that the best defensive run we had was 7:33 to 3:32 in the 3rd Q. GP2 came in at the 5 minute mark and the Hawks made *nothing* and eventually pulled Trae out of the game.

The Hawks scored a total of 4 pts in the 4-6 minutes where GP2 was in the game and we were actually running a B1Z.

Again, don't believe. Check. Watch. More than happy to hear if these guys are wrong, but if its just general nonsense like above, cool, I could have assumed that from the same handful of posters who just repeat everything they hear. But the Warriors did not go B1Z all 2nd half, they tried it in the 1st half as well, and the results were better because Trae wasn't white-hot and the Hawks used Capela on the screens more than Collins in the 2nd half, because they typically do use Capela more on screens as a rule. Also their boxy offense didn't help and Nate didn't make any changes, so bless him for that.

This is why player tracking is a lot of fun for fans who really want to know the *why* of the game.. hearing players talk in generalities because they are actively in the game isn't going to be as precise as coaches and scouts who dissect the game at the tiniest levels.. and you can start really understanding the game within a game, how much like chess basketball really can be. If people prefer the generalities, that's fine, go ahead, but I post this stuff for the people who are sickly obsessed with this game like me. And as said before, if you think its wrong, show me. I'm putting timestamps on these, please... show me. Or maybe watch the game again with these timestamps and possibly learn. Totally up to you

Wouldn't have minded seeing the players run some plays to try and get Kuminga/Moody shots.

Poole got back into last year mode where garbage time was for him.. maybe it’s by design to get him rolling? :dontknow:

But same. Especially Kuminga, because he will be an iso guy if we use him this year, and that’s all garbage time is good for
