I think people are more likely to like and support those who look like them. The league has been waiting for a Luka for a long time as a marketing thing. I say that not to say it in a negative way though. It's like when Tiger Woods got popular and Black people started watching and supporting him. Acting like you are near death is embarrassing.

I dont think Morris was faking. He got hit in a vulnerable position and had a next hyperextension that caused a stinger and maybe a contusion.
Doubt that Jokic wanted to hit him like that and just wanted to retaliate in a similar way but he was pissed and lashed out in anger.

Jokic shot was legit. You watch your back after what Markief did. That is his bad for assuming no repercussions would come of that.

Morris is on twitter saying he would never hit someone with their back turned -- he blind sighted Jokic with that shoulder hit and then quickly turned his back from Jokic. He turned his back quickly to make it look like he was a victim lol.

How could he have been trying to look like the victim before anything had happened to him up to that point?

You could say he turned his back so that if Jokic was to push him hard on the back, he would look like the victim, but i don't give that much credit to Morris to pre-emptively plan all that, and no one actually wants to get pushed from behind like that anyways, so planning that would be odd.

He turned his back, because he knew he made an overly aggressive play and was trying to act like he didn't do much, because staying would invite ref review, etc. Basically the whistling and walking away like nothing happened, but that has little to do with being the victim.

This thread just goes to show how much likeability plays into the reaction.

Taking names out of it, what I see is Player X giving Player Y a bad elbow to the ribs (and making contact with Player Y's knee) that should have been a Flagrant. Then Player Y gets angry and gives him a full force forearm shot to the back. Like Player X's reaction to the hit may have been over the top at points, but he didn't flop when he got hit. There was a lot of force in that hit.

To me what Player Y did was worse, even though I get he didn't fire the first shot. The reaction was disproportionate to the foul he received.

Then when you replace the names to Morris, a known **** and a half (the fact he's brother is an even bigger one doesn't help him, but still), and Jokic, a guy who is almost universally liked, the narrative becomes different.

Agreed but we know neither one of them talking about boxing - which is a shame. Jokic bros comjng to games… if they break a Morris twin they do 3-6 months and come home. Morris bros break a Bone and it cost them millions.

If your argument is that flagrant fouls where there is no play on the basketball should be legislated out of the game - with suspensions without pay meted out to those who do it - I am on board with that. There is no place in the game for non-basketball flagrant fouls.

What Jokic did was WORSE than that.

If you want to give Morris a 3-game suspension for his hit on Jokic, fine with me.

By that standard, Jokic gets 7-10 games.

The foul by Morris on Jokic was a flagrant, non-basketball play that warranted an ejection. What Jokic did was unquestionably worse, IMO.

I agree, In garbage time a scrub had an intentionally dirty play against an MVP. Jokic reaction, while not okay and hence being suspended, is totally natural and understandable. I have a feeling that people who think otherwise havent played sports at a competitive level.
