Re: 2021-22 Season Discussion and Speculation
Does anyone think we're not playing Smith in fear he gets hurt or devalues himself?
I feel like we're going to try to wait out the Spurs on Thad Young.
Any chance we remove the protection of our pick to OKC so we'd be allowed to trade our '24 first rounder? Maybe the team wants to make sure making a move like that won't backfire before pulling the trigger (meaning we don't miss the playoffs and end up giving them an unprotected lotto pick).

Hot take... maybe not that hot... Jalen Smith is simply not a good basketball player. He is "officially" a bust in the same conversation as Josh Jackson, Bender and other notable BAD draft picks. Glad we didn't extend him and double down. Fail fast.

McGee is a surprisingly (at least to me) poor defender. He's a great shot blocker and a big body and we definitely need both of those elements for certain matchups, but his overall D kind of sucks. Frank has been a much better defender and I'm not sure what the takeaway from that should be.
All in all it seems like there's a good chance we'll still have some big man rotation/minutes issues in the playoffs...

I just think this is just us not wanting to play someone who will (likely) not be here for the playoffs and we'd try to build our team and cohesion for that future. Why bother with someone who is not in your long term plans?

I think we are not playing him because Frank is playing well. Not every decision the team makes is based on some ulterior motive.
I doubt he has much of any trade value at all anyway. No team is able to re-tain him if they trade for him. We won't want long term money so a team dumping a longer deal on us doesn't make sense.

This Heat broadcast is hilarious...on replay at 1:50 or so it shows Markieff run hard into Jokic (and the Heat announcers say "ok, so he fouled him" as if it was an everyday type of foul) and then Jokic does the same (though from behind) and they talk about how it's one of the biggest cheap shots ever.
Then there is this...

Frank has been playing well, McGee has been decently McGee and it's probably a trust issue with Smith in that Monty doesn't trust him. We'll continue to see Smith at various points in the season during garbage time but I doubt we'll see us give much time to a guy that won't be with the team after this season.

Not sure why Jokic hitting Morris from behind is that much worse that Morris cheap shotting jokic while he wasn't really looking and was jumping and passing exposing his ribs.
I mean, to criticise Jokic for cheap shotting Morris with his back turned is a joke because Morris, the fake tough guy, cheap shots Jokic then immediately turns his back so as to not allow Jokic to legitimately retaliate.
This whole thing has me so unreasonably fired up because I can't stand people who behave like the morris bros... they are undeniably two of the dirtiest dudes in the NBA and they constantly push the limit of what is acceptable... now I have now issue with people playing like that e.g. pat bev etc. But I do have an issue when they whinge and moan when someone plays dirty back at them. At least pat bev takes it as good as he gives it most of the time. Morris bros are unbearable.
rant over lol.
edit: watching the replay Jokic's shot wasn't even that hard. Pat Bev's push on CP3 last playoffs seemed to give more of a whiplash effect than Jokic here.

Jokic saw and could have braced for the foul which was evidently coming. MoBro got hit in the back where he didn't have a chance to brace and unlike a shove with two hands, Jokic shoulder barged using his full bodyweight.
Jokic is also likely a good 30-40lbs bigger than MoBro. Pat Bev is similar size and weight to CP3.
I'm not here to disregard MoBro's history of dirty plays et c etc but looking at this by itself, it's undeniably a cheap shot.

But this IS a mobros, and given their history of actions across the league (on and off the court), there is absolutely no way you can look at this "by itself". The hit by Morris on Jokic was in no way a basketball play, not even as fouls go, and he made absolutely no effort to make any motion towards the ball, that "foul" was strictly a body check.

If a bully tries to punk you, you hit them back, period. It's Kieff's problem that he disrespected Jokic by refusing to even face the guy. Absolutely zero sympathy for either of those dirty twin scumbags.

Re: 2021-22 Season Discussion and Speculation
I'd like to add that if you look at most of the MoBro's lil episodes is that they usually involve younger players, often rookies. They try to punk and bully smaller or younger players, and it's honestly sickening to watch. The only difference between this situation and the others is that one of them finally tried to pick on someone who was actually bigger than him.

Yeh, this is what i'm saying - he knowingly punks Jokic, then turns away to avoid the consequences. Don't tell me he didn't know what might be coming - very different to if Jokic did it unprovoked when Mo had his back turned - but that isn't what happened.

Monty Williams said an MRI on Deandre Ayton's injured right leg came back clean, but the Suns' starting big is listed as out for Monday's rematch at Sacramento.
"Structurally, he's fine," Williams said after Sunday's practice. "He's just got to get to a place where he's not playing with pain and soreness."
Ayton left the Oct. 30 game against Cleveland in the third quarter with a right leg contusion and didn't play Tuesday versus New Orleans.
Wow an MRI for a contusion?

Depending on where it is on his leg a contusion on the outside could realistically be a hairline fracture underneath.

So what you're saying is, the hit is not bad because the hit was on a bad guy?
