O/T: Not a fan of coaches casual attire.

Post#1 » by alienchild » Tue Nov 9, 2021 8:59 pm

I think most coaches just end up looking lumpy in the casual attire the league is allowing.

When all the coaches are dressed the same they look like counter line staff in a fast-food chain. Fries with your burger?

When they wore suits or blazer's they had more presence as leaders. Now it's a rec-league vibe. They could express their personalities more. I remember the electric blue outfit Nick Nurse wore the night of the Craig Sager tribute.

I hope the league changes back.

I like the sport polos, they remind me of golf caddies. Which is what coaches basically are.

Suits have no place in basketball, not on the court or in the seats.

Suits and blazers have been around for over 150 years. Is there not some progression in a 21st century away from uniform dress codes?

lol they all looked the same in suits. Is this a pressing concern? Makes no sense to have a coach in a suit.

I have maintained for years coaches should wear a jersey and shorts just like the players

I like that they can choose what they want to wear, but I do not like Stephen Silas wearing sweats. I feel like if you're coaching a bad team, you can't dress like you were coaxed into coaching your kid's team. It would only work if he was in his 70s and swearing nonstop.

Never gave it any thought before but now that you bring it up, yes, everyone on the bench should be in some type of uniform. Bench staff and players sitting out for whatever reason should wear polos (short or long-sleeved) or some kind of 3/4 zip pullover with black pants. And the colour should match whatever the oncourt jerseys are for that game.

So if its a Welcome to Toronto game, they should be wearing black shirts with gold Raptor logos. It would give a nice professional look and colour to the bench.

I remember my elementary basketball team coach telling us why we had to dress in a suit before and after games, "because you want to look like Gentlemen and professionals when not playing", of course this was also a life lesson, but I think it may not be something that appeals to most people today, and thats fine. I think business casual looks good, but definitely try to look professional, like don't look like a bum when you are infront of 20k fans and national television especially when you are paid millions.

Isn't a team logo golf shirt and black pants the Olympic coach look?

I prefer the casual look. Seeing guys in suits on the sideline always looked silly to me.

a coach wearing a suit, running up and down the sidelines. Has always been a a strange look.

The coaches could be wearing nothing but adult diapers and I couldn't care less.

Never cared what the coach wears. It was annoying to watch Casey wear an oversized suit all the time though.

Coaches should be naked. Try coaching your team that way and see who listens to you, especially while arguing with referees.
