2022 NFL Draft discussion

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Mon Sep 6, 2021 1:50 pm

The Packers might be picking in their customary late 20s, or they could have a couple picks at the tops of rounds one and two if Rodgers balls out and wants out. Teams with multiple firsts in 2022:

DET
1
1 (from STL)
2

NYG
1
1 (from CHI)
2

NYJ
1
1 (from SEA)
2
2 (from CAR)

PHI
1
1 (from MIA)
2
2 (from IND)

Here's potential top 10 pick Kyle Hamilton:

I'm not really sure what prompted me to look at QB's, but the arm talent in these two guys is incredible. I'd imagine if Rodgers is traded, Love gets the keys (duh), but if one of these guys were attainable with the additional assets from a Rodgers trade, I'd be tempted as hell to take one of these guys.

Drake London, maybe the best WR in the country, just got carted off with an air cast on his leg. Brutal.

The thinking is he'll be a day two selection.

Supposedly, one of the agreements with Rodgers coming back was getting to pick only a handful of teams that he can be traded to.

If it's true that GB tried to trade up in 2020 to draft Justin Jefferson, doesn't that mean that GB was not set on getting Jordan Love or another first-round QB?

They obviously liked Love enough to trade up a few spots for him at #26, but Jefferson would have required more assets; he went to MIN at #22, and PHI picked a WR at #21. Seems like it would have been JAX at #20, and maybe an extra 4th rounder was not enough for JAX.

Interesting to think how that draft would have ended up with Jefferson to GB instead of Love in the first round. Who takes Love (presumably in between #26-29, for GB to have to trade up)? Miami already with Tua in that draft, then SEA and BAL have their QB set for many years, so it must have been TEN at #29 they were trying to get ahead of.

Would GB end up with any QB in that draft after the first round? Hurts doesn't seem like their cup of tea. Maybe James Morgan the local kid who went to the Jets? Maybe they don't pick a QB in that draft. And end up with Trask this past draft? He went to TB right after GB picked Myers.

If my memory serves me correctly I believe they were worried about Colts trading up back into 1st.

Funny, I did a trade only draft 1st 3 rounds and acquired:

2023 HOU 2nd
2023 PIT 2nd
2023 ATL 2nd
2023 MIN 3rd
2023 DEN 3rd
2023 DEN 4th

Still have all picks 4-7 and picked up extra picks, 1 5th, 2 6th and a 7th.
