Utah FansidedHawks vs Jazz both looking for answers
The Utah Jazz are fresh off of an unexpected 2 game losing skid, and they’ll be looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat in tonight’s rematch with the Atlanta Hawks. As an interconference contest, this game will wrap up the season series between these two teams. The Hawks will certainly be motivated to even the score, but the Jazz should be equally motivated to regain the positive momentum the team was enjoying prior to their last two games. When these two teams squared off on November 4th, they had a closer contest than the final 116-98 score may suggest. The Hawks entered the fourth quarter with a one point deficit, and then they utterly collapsed.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Jazz’s November 4th win over the Hawks was that it came in the absence of Donovan Mitchell. The dynamic scoring guard will be suiting up for tonight’s contest against Atlanta.
Turnovers were the story of the previous matchup between these two squads, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the box score. The Hawks actually did a better job of holding onto the ball than the Jazz, as they committed 9 turnovers to the Jazz’s 14. The issue for the Hawks was that 4 of those 9 turnovers came in the fourth quarter.
In the game prior, the Jazz primarily relied on Mike Conley to hassle Young to the best of his ability, leaving their best perimeter defender, Royce O’Neale, to function more as a free safety, cutting off Young’s passing lanes. Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert was parked in the paint to greet Young on the majority of his crafty drives to the basket. Quin Snyder should deploy a similar defensive strategy against Young in this contest.
It may be impossible to stop a guard with Young’s talent, but if the Jazzmen can minimize his impact as well as they did in their prior contest with the Hawks, they’ll have a good shot at coming away with another victory.

Re: Revenge Game: Hawks head to UTAH desperate for a win
Capela isn't playing up to par. I guess he's still working himself into shape. If he's not playing to last seasons level then the team isn't winning most games. The center rotation in all has been a disaster.
Back pg is the 2nd issue. Trading the small expiring contract of Dunn for Wright was a worthwhile move but it ain't working. They need to fully invest into the position to get something tangible.
The Hawks need a big physical big in there. Robin Lopez has always intrigued me in this lineup. Dieng is just too slow, I don't think Schlenk can wait up to the trade deadline if he wants to salvage this season.

Beside Clint still rounding into form, we are switching too much on the perimeter which pulls Clint from the basket, he is our rim protector, put him in position to do that.CP War Hawks wrote:Capela isn't playing up to par. .
Clint update:
........one of the biggest on-court issues has been the play of Clint Capela. Capela was one of the biggest reasons why the Hawks were so successful last season. He almost single-handedly transformed the Hawks’ defense. He has not looked the same this year after dealing with a lingering Achilles issue.
“I’m still treating it every day,” Capela told The Athletic. “I’m trying to manage it as best as I can. I’m trying to get back to where I was last year. I’m getting there. It’s going to take time. It’s still early in the season. It’s going to take more games. The effort is going to have to be better, even if I play less. The effort has to be better. I want to get back to where I want to be with longer minutes and the effort I want to play at.”
Capela has made just 59 percent of his shots at the rim, ranking him in the bottom 25 percent of all big men across the league, per Cleaning The Glass. The explosion that Capela has shown over the years has not been on display on offense, and he hasn’t been anywhere near the dominant defensive player he was last season. That’s part of the reason why the Hawks have been one of the worst defenses in the league so far.

I think it might be time to move KH into the starting lineup to jumpstart the offense.
The question becomes, who gets benched??

We lost the inside battle too. Utah scored 42pts to our 34pts inside.

Re: Revenge Game: Hawks head to UTAH desperate for a win
They haven't played well CONSISTENTLY and whatever Nate is doing with his lineups are head scratching.
However, besides the teams they've played they've had a very compact schedule with 2 sets of 3 games in 4 nights and games every other day so no real off day for real practice.
"By the time these Hawks make it to the court in Denver on Friday, they will have “enjoyed” the first two-day “rest” period (i.e., no game days) since the season began.
Of the 29 other NBA clubs, only three will have waited longer for their first two-day siesta than the Hawks, once off-day #2 arrives for Atlanta on November 11th. Seventeen of them have already “enjoyed” it at least twice, like Denver and Phoenix thrice, while the entire Western Conference have already kicked back for at least one. The Jazz, like the Warriors, Suns, Cavs, and Pistons (all Hawks opponents played in the early going), have had at least one stanza of three or more non-game-days."

Easy choice BB. His ball handling and perimeter defense has fallen off noticeably. Huerter isn't much better at the latter, but he has active hands and contest shots better.
Bogdan can shoot all the ill advised shots with the bench unit. The biggest issue is the final lineup in the 4th.
