ORL TRADES: Fultz, Harris, Ross

Re: Lakers and Magic
A big NO from Lakers
Harris sucks and is always hurt
Fultz is not too great, coming off a big injury, cant shoot either, and I don't like the length of the deal
Ross is fine, but not a great defender
I would even say no if we weren't throwing in our pick or THT
At least this summer we can move him much easier
This would be swapping Kuzma, Pope, our 1st, and AC for Harris, Fultz, and Ross basically
Assuming Trez was gone as he was a bad fit and Dwight replaced him

Lakers
The Depth Chart might be a bit imprecise, but the formatting makes it easier to count.
PG: Russell Westbrook (1), Kendrick Nunn (2), Rajon Rondo (3), Avery Bradley (4)
SG: Talen Horton-Tucker (5), Malik Monk (6), Wayne Ellington (7), Austin Reaves (8)
SF: LeBron James (9), Kent Bazemore (10)
PF: Anthony Davis (11), Carmelo Anthony (12), Trevor Ariza (13)
C: DeAndre Jordan (14), Dwight Howard (15)
If the above is correct for the players with regular NBA contracts, why is Doumbouya being included in the trade?

What’s up with all the Westbrook trades? It’s been all of 11 games to judge this experiment. Can we at least wait till mid season to see how things work?

Yeah it feels really off for both. If the Lakers are going to attach a first to Westbrook for a pile of role players, these feel like the wrong role players. Ross is okay, but Fultz and Harris create their own set of issues for LA. And for the Magic, its not that terrible to turn Ross and Fultz money next year into Westbrook for a first I guess. But you'd have to buy Westbrook out and if you still have any faith at all in Fultz then why.
I would say LA should hate this more just because they currently have more at stake. But yeah don't love it for Orlando either.

The thing is, Westbrook should work better without Lebron, but he hasn't. And the Lakers don't have the luxury of time as its clear now Lebron is mortal and time is ticking.
I don't actually expect a trade, but I think the Lakers should absolutely be exploring what might be out there. And sooner rather than later. Getting off mistakes too early is rarely bad. Getting off them too late can be fatal to your chances.

Well, you’re certainly right about time not being on their side, which is why I think THT should be on the block. I still think WB and Lebron might be able to salvage the pairing if the team had a little more spacing. They need another legitimate 3 point threat, and THT is probably their best chance to get that guy.
They can’t be messing around waiting THT to develop when Lebron isn’t getting any younger.

Westbrook
He remains a poor three point shooter and some feel that he won't improve much in that area. His decision making can be poor at times.
Since Dwight and DAJ aren't noted three point shooters, then Davis needs to play heavy minutes at Center to give spacing for Westbrook (and Rondo) to drive to the basket.
If Davis is playing heavy minutes at Center, then that leaves Melo, LeBron (sometimes injured), Ariza (injured) to cover the minutes at PF. If LeBron isn't playing many minutes at SF, then that leaves Bazemore (undersized) and THT (injured) to cover most of the minutes at SF.

It's tough because Westbrook, LeBron, Davis is a lot of salary. They had 15m to spend to fill out 2 more players and then the final 10 other players were on minimum deals. Currently, they have 3 of the 5 non-minimum guys out with injury and Davis on top of it has been playing but injured.
I also think the underrated story difference between other quality big 3 salary teams and Lakers has been the minimum guys are far better. GSW alone for example: Iggy, OPJ, Bjelica, GP2, Lee, JTA have been far better than anyone on Lakers not named Melo.

Because of his new contract, they have to wait another two months before they can trade THT.
Deadlines
12/15/21 — No-trade restrictions lift on DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo, Chaundee Brown, Mac McClung, Wayne Ellington, Kendrick Nunn, Carmelo Anthony, Kent Bazemore, Malik Monk, Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza.
1/15/22 — No-trade restriction lifts on Talen Horton-Tucker.
4/10/22 — Final day of the 2021-22 regular season.

Well, I’d certainly be curious to see if they contemplate moving him when he becomes eligible.

Re: Lakers and Magic
As much as I think the Lakers need to deal Westbrook, this isn't one which they should consider, and neither does Orlando. Fultz doesn't really provide anything for the Lakers and is a decent sized deal, Harris is never healthy and, while Ross is an upgrade, they already have plenty of his type in Nunn/Monk/Ellington and less of a secondary or another primary ball handler.
For Orlando, is taking a 2027 first really worth hoping THT didn't just get paid to mail it in? Sekou has no rela value as they could have claimed him off waivers. Plus, with Cole, I don't think they want a poisonous mentor.
