Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Is there a move for Daniel Theis?
29 yo Theis seems expendable on a 1-9 Rockets team that's got Christian Wood, Sengun and Garuba. We could've just signed him this offseason instead of Oubre. I mean, Oubre works for him straight up after December 15th. Or PJ and filler for Theis works. Plumlee + other assets for Theis also works

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Plumlee and 2nds should be enough. Plumlee is on the books for this year and partially guaranteed next year, they can cut him loose or trade him in like 8 months. Theis is on the books for four years, they should be fairly motivated to move him to get minutes to everyone.
We need Oubre when Hayward has his annual injury and there's no point keeping five centers on the roster.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
I can't get behind trading Plumlee for a different Center. What happens when that guy sucks? gets hurt? needs to rest?
The only sort of trades I can get along with center around some package of Rozier or Gordo plus some of the end of the bench guys.
From a balance perspective, it makes the most sense instead of continuing to apply band-aids to a sucking chest wound.
They really need to be monitoring the Cleveland and Houston bigs. There's no way all those guys are going to stay together long term. I also really think Turner is a great fit here with his rim defense but believe that ship may have sailed.

A Plumlee trade for someone a bit better (like Theis) stops the bleeding, roughly gets us back to last season's center rotation, but shouldn't stop us from making another move. Theis would be a quality backup if we did get a starter using Rozier or Hayward or PJ

What problem do we have that Theis is solving?

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Ideally, we can find another starting level center and make Plumlee a backup. Either by trading one of Rozier & Gordon, or via FA. Or we finally break out draft curse when it comes to bigs.... yeah FA or trade it is.
Trading Plumlee for another average to below average starting center doesn't solve anything though. We still can't defend or rebound. Those are systemic issues that one mid-level player isn't going to solve.

Could have signed Drummond or Whiteside and despite their flaws, we would be soooo much better.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
You guys do realize Hayward is shooting 50 48 84 right? His name continuously getting brought up in trade scenarios is nauseating. If you're letting him go you better get a near all star caliber player in return. Guys throwing him in trades like he's chopped liver.

Hayward and Bouknight for Ben Simmons.

Yeah I hate Simmons for the way he’s gone about business, especially with the national team, but I’d still take him

I wonder if they ever entertained batum for horford last year, as the dude is pretty much averaging a double double with over 2 and half blocks a game. He really would have helped this team.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Simmons would anchor our defense. I would be for it, but we should accept that our offense will suffer greatly if we ship Hayward out. Miles Bridges is going to have to ball out, and Cody Martin will need to continue to shoot well
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

Re: Fake Trade Thread #3
Simmons offense isn't that bad when he is mentally there. He shoots a high percentage and will score 15-18ppg. He could be our best passer too. His offensive issues are shooting and FT's.
Melo
Rozier
Miles
SImmons
PJ (for shooting)
That's actually a pretty balanced lineup.

I've never been a big Bagley fan, but he's textbook definition buy-low, low, low right now and would be an immediate improvement to Plum/Richards - https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/264687/Mavin-Bagley-Refused-To-Enter-Game-Vs-Suns.

I wonder if Kupchak could work out a Carey for Bagley swap. That would be poetic justice, I think...a Carolina guy trading two useless Duke players for each other.
