And his shot selection is still abysmal, maybe those things change with better cast mates but he surely isn't maximizing his talent

Slovenia had almost as good offense as the USA in the Olympics. Slovenia also completely shut down Sabonis and Jonas in qualifiers, yet Mavs struggled only with Jonas and a poor NO team.

It's true that Luka is completely out of sync so far, his conditioning is not helping, that's true, but there are also other factors in play here.

I can almost guarantee you that if Luka was playing up to his level, this team would look very different. Kidd is not helping but Luka is good enough to overcome bad coaching. But for that to happen, he needs to stop having late night trips to the fridge and eathing leftover pizza and pasta. He is fat for a basketball player and thats the main thing holding him back right now. In shape Luka is an offensive monster.

With Maxi, the Mavs have trouble against any elite teams with so many elite driving threats. Chicago is far more athletic than the Mavs team. Powell is not going to get your team any where. Powell is just not a good paint defender.

He is small...that's a problem in the PO.

This roster need a shake up, though that means some painful decision (trade Brunson or Maxi).

KP played good and seems in recovery, maybe we don't need to dump him...

He was even more fat last year, but he didn't look that lost. Not only that he's taking and missing more difficult shots, he's lost as playmaker too. He has some turnovers, which he never had before. He knew exactly where his teammates were last year. This year it looks like everyone tries something by himself. Offense looks totally random. I'm not sure that can be fix only with Luka getting back in form.

We are only weak, it's useless talking about starting lineup/spacing/fitting guys/3point %/rebounding.
They have 4 potential all star and Patrick Williams (out last night) who is a rising star. Too much for us.

A weaker roster than this routinely beat up on PO teams last year.

The roster is the more or less the same, no significant adding this year.
Yes true, in a 82games season happens that bad teams beat good teams...and so?
This year we are 0-4 with 4 blowouts. Embarassing.

I'd argue it's improved. But even if we take it as the same, it demonstrates that this talent can routinely beat good teams if coached right.

Right now this team is running terrible rotations and bad sets

Luka's style is sort of street ball. If there is a window for it, he will ALMOST always go for the fancy play for the highlight reel. It's one of those baggage that come along with great players. Kobe airballed a lot of last second plays too. If he makes it, he's the king of LA, if he misses, he's a ball hog. Sometimes you just have to live with the results if the positives outweigh the negative stuff he brings.

On a side note, Luka needs to be on the phone everyday now that Jokic got suspended. Jokic and his brothers hate the Morris twins. Luka has beef with Marcus Morris. They can build on that thing and have Jokic transfer in the summer of 2023. That is a double edge sword though as Luka can very much bolt for Denver too if Cuban doesn't get his **** straight and keeps signing these Powell types to 4 year deals.

Regarding Kidd, I'd give him a runway. Not even Phil Jackson can bring this team to the NBA finals on the first year of hiring. That's just asking for a lot. Especially in 2021 where almost all NBA teams are good.

It's almost clear that with Luka in the best shape we could win against every team (1game, not a PO series of course).

I'm pretty sure that Cuban thinks "ehy guys we are 7-4 with a new coach, don't worry"...sad but true.
