I think Mobley's the best player in the draft and has had the biggest impact, especially defensively.

I'm not mad though, because a) he was gone by the time the Raps picked and they did try to move up for him and b) looks like the Raps might have the 2nd best guy in a loaded draft anyway.

Hes also basically #1 in basically every advanced stat. Theres that too.

They're clearly the 2 best rookies. We got a good one too.

Chill.

They're also the two best rookies (so far) in a totally stacked rookie class. In a lot of seasons, a guy with Duarte's stats would be a clear top two ROY candidate. Not to mention, Mobley and Barnes are the two guys that were supposed to struggle a bit as rookies (Barnes being raw, Mobley being skinny) and they're both fantastic.

I think there's an argument to be made that Scottie is a better fit here as he fills a leadership/charisma/energy void that was left after Kyle went to Miami. But I don't think ROY really matters as much as having a blue chip prospect who clearly likes being here.

I honestly thought the Cavs were going to mismanage Mobley similar to Bagley in Sacramento. I didnt expect him to be able to fit into the PF position as well as he has although alot of Mobley and Barnes success this year imo is due to the rule changes in the NBA. Especially Mobley. Perimeter players aren't able to exploit guys as much as years past.

Did we actually try to move up for him? Who reported this?

But I do agree that Mobley is a stud. I do have a feeling that Masai had Barnes ahead of Mobley though.

Kevin O'Conner (Ringer) reported it originally.

I thought I saw other sources as well leading up to the draft but can't find those now (may have just been aggregation sites).

I think the Bagley situation, is less to do with being on the Kings and more related to being a total liability on defense while playing one of the most demanding role on that end of the floor as a C, he isn't 3pt shooter, and just doesn't fit with winning style of basketball. Kings' other picks lotto picks (Fox, Haliburton, Mitchell) are developing just fine, hell even Harrison Barnes has blossomed.

I like the young core they have as well but Luke Walton is an idiot. Hes probably the worst coach in the league. The Kings have mismanaged Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley. Bagley can play, they should be able to find a way to get him to produce and if he is a defensive liability well, they've had three years to develop him and haven't. Thats why they started drafted guys like Haliburton and Mitchell, guys they know will develop themselves and are proven competitors.
