Just a reminder...

Bubble championship tomorrow at 10PM. A matchup of two perennial championship contenders in Dallas and Golden State. Some of the best players in the game will be on display tomorrow night.

Also, nine days left to submit preseason power rankings. Announcement on how to do this is found on page 13 of this thread. So far, we have just two submissions. Hopefully the majority of the league procrastinates until the last minute the way I used to do when I was in school and we get as close to 30 active members as possible. All submissions are due by next Saturday so that Sunday the 21st we can have the unveiling of the 2021-22 preseason power rankings. Any questions, let me know.

Update from Wolverine studios:

WS released their Beta build of their 2021-22 Pro Basketball League yesterday. It is a First Access version which gives users the chance to get into the game and find bugs. It allows the developers a chance to clean up the game before releasing the finished product.

A couple of tidbits from the communication they sent out yesterday. Nothing Earth shattering, but I figured I would pass along all info to keep everyone in the loop as much as possible as we wait out these last few weeks before our season begins.

I expect FirstAccess to last about three weeks. If we need more time than that to make sure the final product is as good as possible we certainly will take it.

Looks like the final release will occur like it normally does, sometime around late November-early December. Which puts us on track for an opening night sometime in that first week of December.

Secondly, I found this bit of info interesting:

- there will certainly be adjustments to player ratings before the final build as the first few weeks of the season will give more clarity into not only the rookies and young players who have taken a leap forward this season but also how the new rules changes regarding foul calls affect stats and the need for adjustment in the sim for that

Obviously everyone is waiting for player ratings to be released. It does look like they will take these next couple of weeks to really evaluate players maybe more than they usually do. They always take the first few weeks of the NBA season to evaluate the rookies and younger players but if they are looking at how the new rules effect everyone, then maybe even some vets may see an increase/decrease in their initial rating based on the NBA season and how they are playing.

That is very interesting about them taking into account the new foul rules when developing ratings. Im guessing certain players who had very high SCR ratings in past seasons but use to take advantage of those trips to the charity line but no longer get those easy buckets could see a reduction in their scoring averages.

Looks like I maybe playing Caruso over Wall if this season stats are taken into account, which isn't a terrible thing as it just adds another plus defender into my rotation

I guess being a season behind in terms of stats is now a thing of the past?

Either way I’m not worried about Dame and Embiid (who have both struggled early), because winning in this sim has always placed team play over stars alone. Team defense, team scoring, team cohesiveness, team rebounding, complimentary fits, etc. has always had a greater impact than star ratings. If you know you know.

Was worried a bit about my offense if it was last season stats but with Morant, Ant Man, and Ingram in top 15 in scoring this season it could provide me with some interesting line up combinations when it comes to balancing offense and defense

I wouldn't look to deeply into the updated ratings. I think they have always taken the first few weeks of the season to adjust to anyone who looks like a breakout candidate or someone who has dropped considerably from the year before. It has always been used to evaluate rookies. I just thought it noteworthy that they actually mentioned that they were taking the new rules into account this year and putting them into ratings for the vets if they have been positively or negatively effected by them. I do not see any midseason adjustments coming just because of this announcement.

I wouldn't think they would simply make rash decision on guys with track records based on a couple below standard weeks. A FY last year outweighs a couple weeks this year. Maybe get a sense for rookie and young players but vets shouldn't (I hope) be effected by a poor start.

I think scoring rates of players will go down across the boards making bench and team defense that much more important though. It'll be interesting, I don't think you can rely on a player or two to carry you to the playoffs anymore.
