Also, harris was 6-6 from three in the first half. barely shot again until late 4th.
How about.. i dont know run some plays for him. if they focus on not letting him get a shot, use that overplay to your advantage.
nope.

why aren't we running double screens for him for catch and shoot curls?
i'm really disappointed at how Nash has zero offensive imagination for a hall of fame PG.

Cr@ppy play against bad teams notwithstanding, it's the Ws and incremental progress that count. What's the point of stomping opponents every night and peaking in freaking November, then losing steam after the All-Star break and limping into the playoffs with injured and/or burnt-out starters?
Guys just need to keep playing themselves into form and strengthen chemistry, develop good habits on defense & offense, avoid injuries and consecutive losses. Hopefully the coaching staff starts accumulating bball IQ points along the way.

He had 2 great looks back to back in the 3rd quarter which he missed, and that was a factor in Pelicans continuing to chip away at the lead. Just to be clear though, I'm not mad at him, he played fantastic tonight and has been playing really efficient last 6 games.Prokorov wrote:Also, harris was 6-6 from three in the first half. barely shot again until late 4th.

Losing the lead sucks. But I don't care that much if we won. Winning is hard sometimes.
We did what we had to do when it mattered. Also great Harden is back. We need him.

Game was a sleeper and another end of 3rd stretching into the 4th quarter melt down. I guess that's the weakness when your primary bench scoring option is a center, if your opponent starts pressing and trapping and you don't have a reliable dribble penetrator things can get disjointed fast. That was even happening when KD (without Harden) was on the floor, they were able to deny entry passes and generate turnovers because the only ball movement was coming from them doubling KD.
During that Pels come back stretch Joe was the only player to make a successful drive in the halfcourt. That's a scary thing about our combination of overreliance on the 3, turnovers and giving up 2nd chance baskets. It's the perfect recipe for letting a scrappy team back into the game regardless of the talent differential. It also negates our good perimeter defenders with fast breaks and putbacks.
All that said it's great to get some clutch game reps and see Harden rounding back into form. I went from slowly nodding off to the edge of my seat (we better not fken lose this cold sweats).

When you are beating a team badly early in the game there is always going to be a let down. It’s human nature. They did fine. Very happy with the performance for the most part.

We made it harder than it had to be but we hit some shots in big spots. Bruce Brown’s 3 in the corner to tie the game was the start of the run.

Not only we are tied for #1 but the team ahead of us we beat down by 30 and their 2nd best player would still be coming off the bench on this team lol

The Bucks and Heat struggling have been a blessing for us. We don't have to worry of another team being way ahead of us in the standings and keeping HC.
They could still catch up. But you have to assume we will be better as Harden rounds into form.
Harden and KD at their best are both unstoppable.

I think too often we take credit away from the other teams for how well they played. Pelicans played a great final 15 minutes or so. Its the same as Pistons last week who played a great 4th quarter against us. Too often, fans get hung up on teams' terrible records and/or the players on the court. But this is the NBA, there's a lot of talent around and guys can step up for stretches and start giving the other team fits. Our offense went cold collectively after going up 21 and then Pelicans started playing some great defense.LOUiS-D wrote:Game was a sleeper and another end of 3rd stretching into the 4th quarter melt down. In regards to your point regarding bench scoring, I also want to mention that Patty Mills was brought here as that bench microwave scorer (more of a high volume 3pt specialist than shot creator obviously) but he has been pretty awful lately. So when LMA is not generating offense these days, bench will struggle massively.

Honestly outside of his 38% FG, his numbers are pretty much his norm. He's hitting 43% from deep too.
I agree 100% with your first point. You have to respect the opponent. They fought hard on the defensive end in that 2nd half. Garrett Temple was out there playing hard when we took our foot off the gas and they came back.
However, not having a reliable perimeter scorer with the bench is hurting us. Having 90% of our cap tied into 3 guys and only having two available is a serious issue, regardless of what any of us thinks about Kyrie.
Nash is going to have to give Cam a shot eventually.

Told you.
He's already back up to 60% TS for the season. His burst seems to be back already too. Last 4 games: 25/9/9 on 69% TS
