I think its very reasonable to compare Giddey and Kuminga. Of course it is answering the question “did OKC make a mistake?” rather than if GS did, but i’m still interested.

They're completely different types of player. One was also clearly more NBA ready than the other. That's not saying Kuminga's value won't eventually surpass that of Giddey. It might. I doubt OKC is sweating the decision right now though. Giddey is filling up the stat sheet, albeit not that efficiently. 6'7" point guards are a rare commodity. If Kuminga had gone #6, I highly doubt Giddey would have gotten past the Warriors at #7.

Love it. Dude's a natural. I predict his learning curve will be steep. Learning Kerr's principles and system is probably the most difficult for rookies and young players in the NBA so he won't play much until he figures it out. But once it "clicks" for him he's going to be impossible to keep out of the rotation. 20+ mpg by the end of the season.

I'm glad there's no pressure on him to contribute this season. It will take time to learn the system and we all knew he would be a project - still feel it was the right pick to swing for the fences.

Also, I loved Jennings in the draft, did not like Duarte. Jennings may be my biggest miss ever. I was beyond sold he'd be a star

It may be too much too ask of him by the end of this season. If you saw Edwards last season, it really didn't start clicking for him, in a far less complicated offense, until about half way into the season or about 1,200 minutes on the floor, and he started at a higher floor than JK is. At JK's pace he may not get that much playing time under his belt until next season. I don't want to sound negative, because I'm intrigued by the kid, but I think expectations may be a bit too high.

They need to bring him along like Anuoby in his rookie year, where he ate up minutes defending the best wing.

Then he spotted at the corners for the catch and shoot 3s and he was proficient at it.

Then over the next couple of seasons, they let him put it on the deck more.

Imagine if he starts impressing with the limited minutes he's being given. Juggling the minutes is going to get more difficult.

The first guy to stand on the bench for both plays is Bjelica. Not because he is the most excited, he just sees it developing earlier.

Watching JK driving from up high to the hoop got me imagining him playing with KAT. Poor Minnesota.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

He’s probably thinking. Yo it’s easy playing with Steph. I just get layups and dunks if I go to the rim. Lmao

His role is as the Jordan Bell Small ball center. He'll do fine there once he starts getting regular minutes

I don't think that Jordan Bell was ever allowed to handle the ball. Kuminga did that for some plays while Steph was on the court. This tells me (and when watching him it's obvious why) that the org has trust in the ability of JK. He will be only able to showcase that in spurts but it would be a waste to just have him catch lobs.

I think he did really well last game, those were some really promising signs that we will get some impactful rotation minutes from him this season. He adds something to that team that nobody else can.

If he gets the team defense figured out he'll get minutes. The rest is gravy.

I figure rookie Kuminga is more like Eric Paschall. On-ball shot creator with lite 3pt shooting so you play him at the 4/5.

Good news is Kuminga already looks like a more natural passer than Paschall did here; both Draymond and Kerr have expressed they like what they've seen from Kuminga's vision and passing.

Good eye! I love looking out for the bench reactions.

Great 1st step and body control. Guy's gonna be a monster once he's more experienced.
