As part of the Agua Caliente Clippers Of Ontario, Clippers get first dibs on Armenian player Gary Chivichyan. On a big market team like Lakers, Celtics, Heat or Knicks, he'd be a bench warmer - you could say that for the rest of the league. But on the Spurs, he'd be groomed, nurtured and called upon for any situation, not just garbage time or as an injury replacement. San Antonio values its G-League seriously, taking cues from the farm franchise systems established by the MLB. Clippers are in dire need of having to do the same, and while they are based in a big market - Los Angeles - their business model is more in tuned with San Antonio's. This is one of the reasons for the Clipper's identity crisis throughout the Sterling era and into Doc Rivers as coach/GM/father.
Clearly, the Clipper's interest in Chivichyan are beyond mining for diamonds in the rough.
