Literally everyone brings it up that he had 15 rebounds, whenever the 6/24 is brought up.

Also, my guy, why would you bring up Pau 6/16 as a knock of some sort. He made the same # of FG on EIGHT less shots.

That makes it look even worse for Kobe, not better. If Pau was like 4 of 16, sure...but damn.

aren't those intangibles, especially coming from the guard position? kobe doing whatever it took to win.

when its all said and done and if say he shot 3 airballs, again, he wouldn' care, just as long as he did other things to eek out the win. fanbases of non-championship teams don't understand that and only look at geek metrics and numbers that prove their point.

I disagree, but I will concede that the argument is not out of the question. However, Pau was able to be Pau because of Kobe. If he never played with Kobe, he'd just be some euro that was pretty good, not a sure fire hall of famer.

HOW MANY TIMES DID HE BING HIS TEAMS ACK FROM THE DEAD AND PUT THEM IN POSITION TO WIN?? how many countless times in the playoffs and championship games did this guy get the lakeshow over???? more damn time than 6-24!

laker fans were blessed to have a modern day/"wannabe" jordan on their squad. he put fear in your hearts and nutsacks when he had the ball and they were chipping away at your leads. ASIDE from Jordan and Bird, you don't ever want to face Kobe when it mattered most (and dont lie and sa curry or KD is greater or more cold-blooded). 5x champion, greatest skilled player, and the only person who could beat MJ 1-1 because yes, the mamba would steal your damn moves

I’m pretty sure Piston fans read this and laughed.

...and they won.

P.S. Shelden Williams! There's a blast from the past name. I'm going to have to start a thread about his glory soon.

I see this constantly as a knock on Kobe. It is true that Kobe shot 6/24 in that game 7, but everyone either ignores or doesn't know the context.

That was a knock-out defensive game, where everyone was showing their nerves/ fatigue from the previous 6 games.

Why does no one bring up Ray Allen's 3/14 or Paul Pierce's 5/15? Pau (who some call the the "true MVP" of the series) shot 6/16 as Laker's big.

The truth is, it was an 83-79 game. It was a slow/ slugfest of a game where everyone shot poorly.

Kobe also had 15 rebounds, which no-one brings up either.

I don't think the 6/24 is a relevant knock on Kobe at all.

The context is Kobe was a chucker. I saw the game and all I could think was why doesn’t he play smarter? I also remember the game against the Suns where he quit.

OP, Kobe's 15 rebounds doesn't count, because the shooting was so bad from both teams, rebounds were easy to get.
Derek Fisher won the championship for LA, when he had that conversation with Kobe at halftime, because Kobe was throwing up the most off-balanced juvenile shots in that 1st Half, and Derek Fisher lectured him.

Fisher also hit imo the biggest shot of that game. With about 5 min left and the score tied I think after both teams went like 3 minutes without scoring and everyone seemed nervous Fisher hit a long 3 as the shot clock was running down and from then on all the momentum went towards LA. For all the **** Fishers gets he was a clutch player consistently. Sort of like Parker usually was.

Kobe had as many rebounds as Boston’s big 3 combined.

A Lakers fan randomly started a thread to argue Kobe is equally as good as Pau Gasol, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen?

Kobe had a strange series as his best games were in the losses.

In the end, he was the best player overall.

Because it was a game 7, Finals game 7's are very rare, and he played really poorly.

And most of the big shots/plays that won the game for LA were NOT made by Kobe, it was other guys.

It's not a knock, for years everyone was so eager to say Pau carried him which is clearly nonsense, in only one Lakers win did Pau score more than 20. Those are just facts, but I know Pau was also a defensive savant and carried Kobe on that end. No one can just admit Kobe might have been the reason they won, Jordans game 6 against the Sonics where he went 5-19 would be some deathblow against his legacy by Kobe's standards, **** ridiculous.

Instead people are genuinely suggesting Derek Fisher, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and MWP beat the Celtics superteam by carrying Kobe. That's even dumber than the Celtics excuse for losing the series, missing Kendrick Perkins.

Kobe Bryant, the only player where it's okay to constantly focus on what he didn't achieve, rather than what he did achieve.

I remember this game. It was a brickfest due to game 7 butterflies and gassed legs. Wasn’t this the year perk blew his acl in game 6 and celts couldn’t grab a rebound to save their life in game 7?

Yep, it was Celtics relying on an old Rasheed and undersized Big Baby.

If I recall correctly, Gasol had most of the key offensive rebounds and arguably outplayed Kobe for the series. Giving Kobe the FMVP was highly questionable at the time from what I can recall, especially on this board.
