Tin foil hat: Blazers are testing out how they look without Lillard in preparation of trading him!
Spoiler: Not good.

There has been talk that Dame was suffering from abdominal issues and that was part of his slow start. If so let him rest until healed up. That would be better long term.

Yeah at least on the surface this billups hire looks like a big fail. Defense looks the same if not worse and our offense has dropped off. Can’t win on the road or even make it competitive apparently, i doubt we make the playoffs i’d put money on us missing out and maybe then with olshey likely out and a down season we probably finally blow it up
Agreed with all of this.Wizenheimer wrote:Portland averages 90 FGA's a game:
Damian Lillard 19.2
CJ McCollum 19.0
Norman Powell 12.2
Anfernee Simons 10.4
61 of those 90 shots are taken by four 6'3 and under guards
rotation players with usage rates above 20%:
Damian Lillard 28.2
CJ McCollum 26.9
Anfernee Simons 22.1
Norman Powell 22.0
the three guards not named Lillard combine for fewer assists than Lillard
of the 9 regular rotation players, the 4 worst in defensive ratings are those 4 guards that take all the shots and use all the possessions. Those 4 guards play 121 combined minutes which is actually more than half of all available minutes...and people wonder why the defense doesn't look much better?
this mess is Olshey's twisted vision. That is a completely unbalanced roster filled with high-usage pass-first undersized guards who take 68% of the shots and use 67% of possessions while playing poor defense; and except for Dame, do a poor job of getting other players involved. And by the way, those 4 guards also hog 67% of the payroll and Simons is due for a big payday this summer
As longs as that massive idiot imbalance remains, Portland will remain in purgatory....while aging

Of course the other way of looking at your conclusion in the first paragraph is that DL would have been playing better with Stotts as head coach. I believe it is easier to shoot well when you have a permanent green light to take the shot you have faith in, rather than a yellow light that rather take this shot you should perhaps pass instead.monopoman wrote:Oden2 wrote:Pattycakes wrote:Our defense actually looks worse somehow this year?

Part of the offensive problems is Lillard is nowhere near the player he was last season. I doubt Stotts would have looked much better as a coach with Lillard playing at like 30-40% of what he was doing last season.
****, even CJ has struggled a bit in certain games his stats were better to start the season.
I remember a lot of games last year even against bad teams where Blazers are down 6 or 8 with 3 minutes left and it's up to Lillard to make it happen.
