I'm so confused as to what the 76ers plans were?
Did everyone forget what it was like after game 7? The whole city, coach, the media etc etc. piled on Simmons (rightfully so) to the point where the whole country treated him as the scapegoat all off season. Almost every single fan on their board wanted him gone iirc
76ers organization left one of their biggest assets out to dry and it's no surprise their coddled and flawed star requested a trade internally and wanted nothing to do with the team anymore.
Morey had all summer to find a trade but failed which isn't ideal but why not just keep him at home and wait for the trade deadline for more options to naturally happen?
Did the 76ers fail to read the room? Simmons clearly has anxiety issues and there was zero communication since G7. He was done and its laughable if they thought they could get him back to play and rebuild his trade value
Again, just heading over to their board and they seem to be loving Morey and happy to continue fining Simmons out of spite. Both sides are letting their egos get in their way of the bigger picture and it is absolutely hilarious. What they should have done is paid his damn salary when the entitled socialite wasn't going to give in. The sixers don't get to keep the fines so it appears they are just doing it out of spite and prove a point. He is still your asset for the next 4 years so I am baffled what the purpose of fining him was other than to smash his image and value.
If i was a 76ers fan i would be absolutely livid with how this has played out. His trade value is completely shot as no team in their right mind would trade for him without understanding what his mental illness situation is now.
