Yeah I've said this for a while as well, which is basically this - we need a C. Barnes or Siakam can't hold down the role full time.

But the issue is - who do we pull out of the starting lineup? If we're building the future and we consider GTJ and Barnes as part of that future, we need them both to play as many minutes as they can handle. You can't bring OG off the bench for the same reason. So that means you have to bench either Siakam or FVV and that DEFINITELY isn't happening.

If you bring GTJ off the bench, 3 point shooting becomes a problem in the starting lineup. Plus, who wants to pay $18M per for a 6th man?

It comes down to direction. Now I know it's early and the moratorium on newly signed deals hasn't ended yet but when it does, management should have developed a better sense on which way we're going as a franchise. Are we rebuilding around Barnes or Siakam? Because that decision will inform all subsequent moves.

Coming off the bench or starting does not mean a guy is going to be more or less minutes.

The squad will earn their playing time. Realistically, there isn't one single player on the Raps that SHOULD be out there at all times.

Everyone on the Raptors has taken their turn (and continue to take their turn) in getting completely crapped on by the Raps realgm board.

The board with some of the worst takes imaginable. Especially after a loss.

Let's get rid of a 25 and 12 player coming off major surgery.

Let's ditch the best point guard injury insurance in the league for roster killing scraps.

Let's get Willy Cauley Stein for centre...

Fred-Achuiwa who needs them?

I agree. But you're fooling yourself if you think that won't cause chemistry issues, both on and off the court.

Not sure what you mean by that... I'm not going to take that personally since I never said anything of the sort.

But I will say that if what you mean by "25 & 12" is Siakam, I love me some Siakam too. I have been one of the voices on here that has been the most hesitant to trade him. But irrespective of the stats he puts up, we still need to pick a direction as a franchise as there is too much positional/talent overlap between Siakam, Barnes and OG and too many other holes to fill. Siakam's stats don't change that reality.

If the goal is to compete now, we need to start consolidating our assets to double down on the FVV/Siakam core. If the goal is to compete later, we need to sell our vets for blue chip talent that can be put around Barnes. You can look at it which ever way you want but anything other than that is wasted time.
