Spoiler alert - he was often direct (VERY DIRECT) when calling posters on their B.S.. it was an attribute and ability I envied when a moderator.

That was Hater: he wasn't a trouble-maker, and in fact was one of the more insightful posters on the board, and an extremely kind person if you got to know him. And if he was calling you out, it was really worth reevaluating your position rather than returning fire, because the odds were very good that he knew more than you.

Really sad to hear this. He was one of the most articulate and blunt posters on realgm. This just serves as a reminder that life shouldn't be taken for granted, sucks that it often takes a tragedy to open our eyes.

Oh man, I’ll miss this guy. We were forum buds and often had the same views. Even when we didn’t it was a respectful disagreement.

I’m truly sad about this news.

I knew him from realgm and conversed a lot due to us being competitive jerks in a few fantasy leagues. He advised me of his health in the summer in case he were to "disappear". Hadn't heard from him in a week and found his obituary this morning.

He had cancer of the liver, specifically cholangiocarcinoma.

He was one tough and smart hombre and will be missed greatly.

Yuri is it inappropriate to ask to read the obituary you saw? Can send through DM if not comfortable posting. Maybe it’s corny or odd, but I feel like it would be good for me to remember him as a man vs who he was as a poster alone. I know many obituaries talk about their life. If not, I totally understand.

Wow, I had no idea he was sick. Certainly of one my favorite people to interact with on here. Clearly had a true love for the game which is really what this place should be all about. RIP, he will be sorely missed.

Oh no. As a physician. That’s a deadly diagnosis.

I hope he was able to be comfortable in his last remaining days. Very poor prognosis once it’s confirmed. Often times less than 6 months.

Another good one gone. I will miss him--and not just because we so often agreed, but because even when we disagreed he was always a thoughtful and knowledgeable respondent. I learned a lot from his posts.

This is really sad.

Despite going through such a tough time, he was still active around the boards and you wouldn't notice anything different about his demeanour.

Wish we could have told him how much we appreciated him.

He will be incredibly missed. He was a legend for being here so long, being so active and despite being blunt had barely had any warnings, which speaks for how respected he was.

Real life is very different that what goes on online...
Hope his family and friends have the strength to deal with it.

I am new in the grand scheme of things and did not know him well. Anytime a member of the community is lost its a sad day. RIP The_Hater.

I would love to see his obituary too for the same exact reason. I always liked reading his posts and would love to know more about him (but understand if it's not appropriate or against forum rules...)

Raising a glass in his honor. It hurts to see him go and I hope who knew him IRL gave him comfort, but at least we can remember him together.
