RIP. I loved The Hater. He was opinionated like the rest of us, but his were always a cut above. It's sad to lose a member of this community.

I interacted a few times with The_Hater.

He definitely had his admirers.

Several Moderators have good things to say in his comment file over the years.

They went by teddd in the early years until a Username Change in 2006.

Some Moderators pushed him as a potential Moderator Candidate but they had no interest.

The_Hater loved to debate as well and it got him some other marks on their file but he was very liked around here.

It is so sad to hear of the The_Hater's passing and we will miss him although I have a feeling they will be reading discussion on our Forums like he has the past 20 years.

In his honor, we will be having a contest on The Forums to give him a Special Rank that will be his profile forever.

Thank you for everything The_Hater.

My wife is currently battling 5 different cancers.
He first diagnosis came in October 2020 (so, just over a year ago).
I shared her diagnosis with some friends from RealGM.
5 days later Ted sent me a pm and shared his health issues (cancer) with me at that time.
Over the last year + we spoke many times privately about his health and I shared my wife's health issues.
He offered incredible support, kindness, advice and knowledge.

He may have been called The_Hater but I felt like I finally got to know the person behind the keyboard during this past year+. He was most definitely not a hater. What he showed me was that even in dire circumstances he had the sort of empathy and strength to reach out to me out of genuine compassion. It takes a lot of courage to be dying and still be a rock to and for others who are going through their own personal struggles. Over the years, my wife and I have met a few Realgm'ers in person. Some of you may even be posting or reading this thread right now. I really wish we could have met Ted. Specifically I wish my wife had met him and they could have given each other a big hug.

Several months ago my wife was in pretty dire shape, and even with 4 cancer diagnosis at that point, there was discussions with her Neurologist that they were concerned that it could spread to the brain. My wife could barely communicate and could do very little on her own at that time. And I would load up RealGM and read Ted's post to me, to her. She would smile and not to sound corny, but it would give her additional strength. There's something Ted could give to my wife that I could not, the experience between two people extremely sick with cancer. Even in his death, the two of them will have a permanent connection and I'm grateful for that, and him.

Sad to hear he was a great poster he will be missed. Cancer is a terrible disease we've all at least had a friend or family who has delt with it. Prayers to his family in this trying time.

Well I'm awful when it comes to connecting forum posts to the people/handles that wrote them. So I can't specifically comment on his opinions. But I'm sure I read many of his posts over the years and based on what people are saying here, he sounds like a top notch person.
