Nurse Riding Starters Too Much?
I don't understand why we're not playing Dragic and the bench more. What's the point in riding the starters if they're gassed? The team needs to decide whether we are trying to develop our young ones or trying to win?

I'm not a huge Flynn fan. But he went out there and produced in a short period and then didn't get any more burn.
We need to start letting our bench guys fail and maybe lose games. Keeping them on a short leash isn't doing anyone any good.

Yes. He is.
But Then again, we don’t have a bench.

I don't think you will find many supporters of Nurse even approving the minute load.
He has to be able to find some adjustments especially at PG.

Our depth hasn't been as dependable as we hoped, which puts more pressure on the starters to produce. Last game the starters gave us 101 points the bench gave us 12...12 points.

It's a bit of chicken and egg though. If they don't play, they're not going to produce. In this game some guys didn't look great, but why did Flynn only get three minutes? And of course Dragic didn't play at all.

Re: Nurse Riding Starters Too Much?
Nurse's defensive style is tiring. Starter minutes should be in 32-36 range.
Siakam and OG usage has gone up since '19 championship. Sitting in corners for 3s allows you to take breaks on offense. When it was just one of them, it wasn't as noticeable but now with both exerting a lot of energy on offense you can't ignore it. By the end of the game, they are tired and mistakes occur. That's why Kawhi would often take breaks on D and rely on positioning more as his career as a scorer took off.
Team could benefit from different rotations, better bench, more 2 man actions on offense.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

This. But also if they're not getting burn, then we can't expect bench to produce at a decent level aka Bench Mob era.

Re: Nurse Riding Starters Too Much?
Third straight year he’s done this. Two years ago we were running a seven man rotation until half the guys got hurt and we had to run more Boucher, TD and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson which worked out because that trio really worked. Then last year a similar thing happened except we just ended up losing lots of games until everyone got healthy but then covid.
Not surprised to see the wear and tear injuries starting to creep up. Nurse gotta balance his lineups better and let the bench play through things a bit more.

not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

yes, but he doesn't have much of a choice when the bench isn't producing right now

I don't like that we're riding our starters out come hell or high water.
But there's nobody from our bench unit that wants to grab the bull by its horn and outplay the starters, like VanVleet/Siakam and the bench mob did a couple years back.

Dragic is solid and if the goal is to win and not straght development then he needs to be played more.
AS of now our bench is kinda week, one of our current starters should go to the bench to give it a lift.

We were tied going in the 4th.
they put in their starters to start the fourth and within 2 minutes, our bench got us in a 10 pt defecit vs their starters. It was an uphill battle from that point on

I agree completely - Flynn needs to be given more rope. Banton has been amazing, but he doesn't yet have the playmaking chops Flynn showed last season. I think Flynn can run the second unit if given the chance.
BUT - I understand NN's reasoning as well. Last night Fred was +6. Flynn was -7 in 2mins of action. The team just falls apart without Fred on the court.

Bench was -38 last night!
In very limited mins.
If the rope were any longer we would have been completely buried.
Our inexperience beyond the starters is really hurting right now.

IIRC, did not Nurse do this to begin 2019, 2020, and 2021 as well? He seems to lengthen his bench as the season goes on

nick is trying to win, the bench has not shown the consistency .. from svi, to banton, flynn, or boucher ... perhaps return of Yuta will help as would precious...

Bicch - 20.3NRTG
Banton - 46.7NRTG
Svi - -87.5NRTG
Flynn - 100NRTG
All 5 starters (other than Barnes) are positive.

Re: Nurse Riding Starters Too Much?
THis happens every ***** year
Nick thibs rides our players into the ground cuz our bench sucks
then our starters get injured and nick is FORCED to play the bench...
suddenly the bench players end up playing well and then suddenly the depth of our team is better
Nick keeps on having a short leash on the bench, and really its bad for the team....
This isn't playoffs Nick....he will never learn
