it had looked like he had ankle injury but Carlisle says shoulder injury was back in San Antonio. may be a bit of an excuse as he needed a management restScoot McGroot wrote:?s=21

Pretty even first half. Both teams went through streaks of poor play and good play. Gotta stop Kemba and Rose second half and not let Randle or any of the other slumping Knicks get hot.
Liked Kelan 2-3 in 7 minutes. Needs more minutes. Glad Goga got some run.

I'm starting to dislike LeVert. He just doesn't square up.

Most of team shot bad tonight @ 37% from 2 vs Knicks 44%. Knicks defense was the biggest factor tonight plus Pacers inability to guard Walker, Rose, and Quickly. 4th quarter was horrible.
I hope Justin Holiday can figure out how to shoot better. 30% Justin tonight is becoming old. Both he and LeVert are shooting 40% for the year. Brogdon 43% Sabonis 55% Turner 55%.

Didn't watch this game, saw the boxscore
Any correlation between Brogdon and LeVert playing heavy minutes and Walker, Rose, and Quickley all having good games?

I think the knock on Caris has been inefficient scorer and and a negative defender. I slept through this one but the box score paints a picture of Caris playing to his rep.

Not specifically. IQ hit some quick threes, Kimba was hot early on, and Rose has just been really good for New York.Topofthekey wrote:Didn't watch this game, saw the boxscore

It was offensively that our backcourt duo doomed us. Both played a bit too much hero ball. The ball sticks with them and Lamb. Caris is the worst offender but still the only guy we have who can break a defense down on his own.

This sounds like a logical explanation for Myles playing 30 minutes and getting 4 shots?

I only watched a few minutes of the game. Still going by my rule of they have to give me a reason to watch. But even in a brief viewing I can agree with your assessment of some guys playing hero ball. Brogdon still seems to think it is his birth-right to do whatever he wants on the court. Apparently the coaches are OK with that, so no change from last year. Yes, he puts up some numbers, but from what I've seen those numbers seem to come at a cost.
Did look at the box score though.
How is it that Turner plays 32 minutes and only gets 4 shots? Sometimes I wonder if he is just not working on getting open, or whether the guards are ignoring him. Seriously, almost everyone else got more shots off regardless of playing fewer minutes. Puzzling.

Re: Game 15 @ New York 9pm
I watched the game. Some of the issues of Turner’s low shot count were from a bit of hero-ball at times (though not the whole game…mostly just the 4th quarter), lack of ball movement to both sides, and finally, a bit of Turner not playing with his newfound confidence on offense. He had a couple plays where he had the drive lined up, and passed out on the first step and avoiding what would’ve been by far the best offensive opportunity on the possession.
Overall, the offensive flow slowed down in the 4th quarter, and some of it was due to great defense from New York in the 4th (they benched Kemba/Fournier completely). But, even the relatively open shots we were getting just weren’t falling. It was a painful finish.

Brogdon, LeVert, and McConnell were 15-42 combined
The problem is in the backcourt

To be fair, that's also where many of the best defenders are for NY.

Kemba and Fournier are awful defenders. Rose is ok. Barrett is pretty good. Burks is OK. I wouldn't call any of them great though. It was strong team defense that the guards tried to beat with dribbling.Scoot McGroot wrote:Topofthekey wrote:Brogdon, LeVert, and McConnell were 15-42 combined

Taj was the main problem as he gave Domas fits and the guards just stopped going inside after a bit.

4th quarter they benched Fournier and Kemba. Quickley and Barrett were playing top notch defense iat the guard spots.

Their defense was OK but I wouldn't consider it great. Our guys just tried to do too much. When guards are taking the majority of the clock without a pass it doesn't work unless you've got someone like Harden.Scoot McGroot wrote:pacers33granger wrote:Kemba and Fournier are awful defenders. The way some of the guys like to hang onto the ball and dribble the day away sort of reminds me of Travis Best. NOT a fond memory.
