Staples Center changes name to Crypto.com Arena

Fans will probably nickname it "Crypto Arena" or simply "Crypto" for short which won't be too bad.

The name sounded so dumb to me at first and it has no ring to it at all, but then I reminded myself that name changes always sound dumb in the beginning. When Apple first announced "iPads" people made fun of the name because it sounds like a woman hygiene product. Then you have names like the Packers who are named after meat packers and Knickerbockers who are named after pants, baseball teams named after socks... we just get used to it as the years go by lol.

Crypto Arena could mean anything to anybody. The .com signifies why the sponsorship of the arena would be worth so much. It's paid advertising.

I totally understand that. Im just saying the .com part is the cherry on top of how bad this name is. Again I get the purpose of naming rights, just saying the .com part really makes this laughable.

Yup, to me that takes it from just another really bad name for an arena. To maybe pushing it over that line of the worst name for an arena haha. Its that extra little cherry on top of horribleness haha.

I tell you one thing I know some people who will be happy that the word "crypt" in is in arena name in Los Angeles. And yes I spelled it wrong intentionally.
