A couple years ago, after the Toronto Championship I said thst maybe Lavine would ultimately be "our Derozan" . A great scorer, but ultimately a guy you trade away as the piece to get a true difference maker around to which build a championship roster.

I underestimated both guys with that comparison. These are the guys we're gonna build around for the next 3 years at least. And it's not implausible it could lead to a championship (probably need an extra move, but not to displace these guys).

Funny last year I compared PG13 to DDR, as in they both were the same impact and not championship players. Well they are the same impact now and both are able to play at a higher level than I thought.

I still want Terrence Mann on this team though. I mean clips won’t do it but his energy fits this squad.

But with that said, it's difficult to help off of Demar. If you give him space to operate, he just gets to his spot and elevates. For all intents and purposes, even if his three point rate falls, he still does space the floor.

I do think most of what Derozan is providing for us is probably sustainable, as everything is in line with his career numbers. The one thing that should regress will be the three point attempt rate and the percentage, but who knows, stranger outliers have happened.

As a side note, Derozan's defense has been bad but it's definitely not as bad as advertised, or at the very least Billy has been doing a great job of hiding some of his weaknesses.

I’m not sure his 3pt number will drop that much.he has become a better shooter, primarily because he is getting nice clean looks. Are his clean looks going to go away? Maybe a little as they may defend him tighter if he becomes more of a threat but Zach and Vuc will be able to get him more clean looks than anyone else has. Lowry never had the gravity that Zach has at drawing defenders. It doesn’t really make him a better shooter but he will have higher percentage 3’s to shoot imho. If Lonzo can continue to penetrate as he did last night, that only helps DeMars looks too, though that isn’t a given.

I wonder if they ever made contact and considered an offer. Instead they trade for Westbrook and owe him more than 81 million for 2 years!

We know he would have liked to play at home, if they called and made him as great offer he would be a Laker.

I wonder if AK called with that huge offer and they just blew him away.
Players want to be wanted and that was a big commitment from us.

According to DeRozan he thought going to the Lakers was an absolute done deal. They were close on a S+T agreement but the Lakers suddenly pivoted to Westbrook. The Bulls were his backup option.

If we win a title we need to give a ring to the Lakers. Bulls were the runner up to the Lakers for DeRozan and Caruso. In a different world they choose those guys and the Bulls are a .500 team. In this reality, they chose THT and Westbrook and the Bulls greatly benefitted.

There's got to be some ruffled feathers because it sounded like most people wanted Derozan, but there were "key" people who forced getting Westbrook & his contract.

There was minimal debate internally among the Lakers' brass on which player would be the right fit, but there weren't enough key backers of DeRozan. Westbrook was acquired on the day of the 2021 NBA draft.

Lakers with Derozan & Caruso right now? Damn that would have been a team.

It also helped the Wizards a lot too. Lakers just bailing out teams this past offseason. Honestly the Bulls might have gotten desperate and have traded for Russ :o

As critical as I am of the Lakers, I completely understand them signing THT. I just think they were silly not paying the Tax to also bring back AC if they really making a championship push. DDR over Russ is a no brainer, really to anyone and that is not just his recent play, it was fit. Russ style was never going to fit with them. Thank god for Klutch! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

Right!? Plus he'd been having meetings with LeBron throughout the summer but we're the ones tampering...

So Hollinger is trying to make up for under rating us by pointing this out when the decision is close? Like a ref trying to make up a call. I’ll take it. Give us a fine and be done with it. I’m a do the time if I did the crime type person, but we got targeted, although still guilty. Whoever is responsible the announcement was sloppy, still I think it is only worthy of a fine. Joe Smith was not worth 5 (ultimately 4) picks. Just don’t be too heavy handed NBA. We deserve a slap still though regardless for being sloppy.

Coby seems high at this point. Ayo is low but he has outperformed because he has been in a good position. Interesting how being on a better team makes some players shine. They can play to their strengths. It was a good fit. Pat is likely way too high based on his play before injury too. Ahhh video games.

Has DeRozan ever been the #2 on a team? Seems like he's always been asked to be the #1 option on teams, but those teams never went far. Now that he can be the #2 or even #3 option (when Vuc is on), he's proven how good he can be. AKME did an amazing job finding an undervalued asset. He got DeMar and Vuc very cheaply given their stats. If Vuc performs like he did last year, look out. The Bulls have a legitimate big 3.

Agreed. AK had a plan and right now it smells good. DDR is in the best position he has been in. Lowry never complimented him as much as Zach in a certain sense and Ball plus Caruso help cover the defensive flaws. I mean no one on this team is perfect plenty of flaws but as a whole. Looking to be ok. We need a lil something to be a true contender still (hopes of pat making a leap are crushed) but not too far off. Lots of balance and honestly some hustle guys and maybe 1b/2a players all having the most success they have ever had all together. DDR matured and found the right fit. I think DDR and Vuc are priced right, in a market that overpays ( we can list how many are from Felicio to wall). Much like CP3 sometimes it is the right fit. Feels like smart GM’ing which is foreign in these parts for a long time.

After some initial concern, I'm feeling pretty good about years 2 and 3 of this deal. DDR's footwork, balance, and lower body strength are incredible and should allow him to remain a legit offensive threat for the next few years; definitely Paul Pierce-like as others have mentioned and also similar to NY Melo where he's basically unguardable when he gets to his spots.

This is a crazy stat. I definitely would’ve thought Rose did this a time or two.

Well that is a pretty tough obscure stat like a lot of those comparison stats. Not many score that many points on back to back nights at that high of efficiency. If you extend that out to larger than a back to back that list might be more populated.

I wanted to note that Derozan is averaging 2.5 3pt attempts per game and shooting 37% this season.

DDR slayed Alize just like he has been slaying us. Not to mention the Lakers, Clippers and the rest of the league.
