Without Durant, Curry is 1-2 in the Finals. Zero FMVPs. Hardly a "winner" when comparing him to other winners of the last 20 years (Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, LeBron).

That's Rip Hamilton level of "winner". Key cog on a TEAM championship, but incapable of carrying team to a win by himself.

When KD joined, those extra 2 rings that Durant (alpha, FMVP) helped Curry win are the only reasons that Curry can be mentioned as a true "winner". No KD = 1-2 in the Finals, with KD 2-0, bringing him to a positive win % in the Finals.

so 3 finals and a title as the best player on the team...

Nobody except Lebron has a better playoff resume this generation

Definitely Warriors fans. There was enough Warriors fans to hear them making the Warriors chant. That’s not something Steph only fans would do. That’s something from the We Believe era.

Even though it looks like most people rightly ignored this, I'll post Curry's Finals stats for the 10,000th time on RealGM to show what kind of producer he is on the big stage.

Throughout his Finals career, Curry has averaged 26.5 points, 6.2 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game on 42.0 percent shooting from the field and 38.5 percent from 3-point range.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/steph-curry-finals-stats

That ppg average would place him 10th all time, above players like Kobe, Dirk, Dwayne Wade, Larry Bird, Kareem, Duncan, Kawhi, etc.

You might want to reconsider next time you write "rarely produces on the big stage" as the stats prove otherwise.

Mmmmmmmm those are fantastic data I like

What about his clutch numbers in the finals? I think that's people are more focused on when it comes to Steph big moments

As I said, Curry rarely produces his BEST on the big stage.
He's only shooting 42% from the Field in NBA Finals, nowhere near his best.
In fact FAR below his regular season level (.476) and his playoff level (.450).
And Curry specializes in shooting, yet there are many great players who experience a far smaller drop-off in NBA Finals.....and some of them don't even specialize in shooting.

Our best player back in 09 was Jamal Crawford and that heat video was Tim Hardaway Jr. and still those chants are much lower than what Steph received last night at the Oracle 2.0 aka Barclays

Those chants were not for Tim Hardway. You guys are so delusional

No those chants were not louder than the ones for Steph at Barclays. Youre just making stuff up now.

I've literally seen Deron Williams receive MVP chants at the Garden when the Nets were winning.

I've seen Kobe receive MVP chants at TD Garden too.

When opposing fanbases show up you hear chants. You guys just want an excuse to attack Nets fans.

Your stats prove Curry rarely produces his best on the big stage.
Those stats are well below his best fg% and 3pt%, and below his best scoring.
Not that we needed to see those stats, we saw the Finals.
And that's why he never wins Finals MVP.

Wonderful to see such progressive, healthy framing of masculinity in this thread!

Progressive is the opposite to masculine, and the most healthy man is masculine.
Boys of course are less masculine and accomplish less than men.
In the Finals, Curry is the boy, and KD is the man.

This is the gift that keeps on giving. Beautiful philosophy. You should write play to the narrative you’ve created starring Curry as Boy and KD as Man. Can’t wait to buy tickets!

What are you considering "this generation"?

KD has been to the finals 3x and won 2 FMVPs
Kawhi has been to the finals 3x and won 2 FMVPs, with different teams
Jokic 5x MVP train

Naw this different and y’all know it.

Stop acting like we didn’t all see the game, knew the context and saw that Curry was killing the nets and the crowd was CHERRRRRRING CURRY ON!

The crowd was encouraging Curry to bury the nets.

Wade or Kobe or MJ getting chants of MVP from the crowd in nyc was a sign of respect to either the best player on earth at the time or to honor a career well played....but it’s not like Curry leaving anytime soon and KD thinks he is the best player on earth.

So just say y’all don’t have home team if Curry comes to town...so if y’all meet GSW in finals....it’s all the games with GSW logos on floor regardless of arenas

Aren't all numbers important in the Finals? Minimizing it to advanced stats at the very end of close games (how many minutes were those) and defining him by that seems a bit hyper focused.

If the guy can help his team win by 15 in a Finals game because he puts up 26/6/6, that's enough for me to say that he's a clutch performer.

Ok good I misunderstood you.

So now the argument is opposing players don't get MVP chants when the players are bad?

I can't find the Deron Williams video. But I did find a video of a Brooklyn chant at MSG. Which is even worse.
