MVP chants for Steph in Brooklyn. How does that happen when a guy like KD plays for your team.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
everyone thought the nets losing last season didnt matter cause 2022 would be their year
turns out 2021 may have actually been their best chance
championships are never guaranteed in this league

Warriors are too good. Steph could honestly be on his way to having the GOAT individual season. What he’s doing with this team is so impressive.

Warriors might actually win it all again this season. Actually insane.
If Klay was 100%, they'd be locks with how well they're playing.

Warriors are gonna be at like a +9 defense after this game lol. Honestly insane.

Warriors looked great but the Nets defense is just plain awful.

Bit of an idle thought, and a ways off, but what would folks think of voting for the HM list prior to the top 100 next time around? Exclude current guys from the HM list, but maybe take care of some of the guys like Walton who are just impossible to place consistently on a top X list but also critically important in telling the story of the league? Haynes, Hawkins, Stokes, and Sabonis were other guys to come to mind in a similar vein (any you feel I missed?).
I bought a boat.

Feels like the threshold for title contention is the lowest its been in ages (mid-00s).
But its still really early and lots time for teams to improve.
It does feel strange that THIS roster could yield dominant results. But I guess its still true...if you defend at a high level and know who you are offensively you can win a lot of games.

strong defense + great offensive star has always been a winning fórmula, but whether somethingh good enough to win lots of regular season games is good enough to win rings is a bit tougher to say (ask utah)
this will be a interesting season to see unfold, i would still say november is too soon to crown favorites

When KD is known as the most anti-competitive coward in sports history and the team he plays on now barely has any fans, it's not much of a surprise.

I think the foul call rule changes enacted for this season have completely changed the balance of power between positions, players and teams.
But yes, I also agree that it appears the league is ultra weak at the top right now. The fact that teams like Washington, Chicago, and even Phoenix are doing as well as they are with rosters that appear very weak by contenders standards is evidence that either we suck at player evaluations or theres just a lot of variance in results so far.

When you have the offensive GOAT and modern day defensive GOAT on the same team, surrounded by high-IQ players who communicate and understand the system, the team is going to be unmatched.
This year and last are definitely wide open. Just look at what the best players in the NBA have as duo's so far:
Curry - Green (Proven and great)
Giannis - Grayson Allen
Jokic - Aaron Gordon
Embiid - Seth Curry
Lillard - McCollum
LaVine - DeRozan
Durant - Harden
Towns - DLo
CP3 - Booker
George - Reggie Jackson
Doncic - Porzingis
AD - Westbrook
Mitchell - Gobert
I think its a no-brainer that GSW have the best duo here and a supporting cast that fits like a glove. Reminds me of the mid-late 1970s.

Warriors are 27-7 in their last 34 regular season games, going back into last season

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
Really nice win by the Warriors, but what stuck out to me was how mediocre the Nets were. Their offense is bad. I know they were missing Harris and don't have Kyrie, but they had very poor player movement. There's not much of a system there.
Harden's drop-off is immense. He's not nearly as effective with the ball, he's not creating opportunities like he used to, and he's absolutely useless off ball. He should have to buy a ticket because all he does is stand there and watch.
There was a huge difference in the speed the two teams played. The Warriors were much quicker moving around on both ends.
There's a long way to go in the season, but the Nets have work to do if they want to be a serious contender. I won't be surprised if they make some significant roster moves. Kyrie has put them in a tough spot, but they looked pretty good without Kyrie in the playoffs, so I don't know what to make of that.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

The Nets were abysmal without Kyrie last post-season.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
Honestly without Kyrie I'm still pretty confident the Nets are like the 3rd best team in the NBA, with GS really being the only team I feel is comfortably better. Which is saying a lot because they're really not all that great without him.
Still trust the current Nets in a playoff series more than I do Utah, or Denver or any of the Eastern conference flavors of the week. Milwaukee when healthy is probably the one other team I don't feel confident in the Nets beating.

Re: 2021-22 NBA Season Discussion
I agree about the Nets. Watching the heavily depleted Cavs play them yesterday and shoot like utter garbage all night yet still come close to stealing that game late in the 4th before running out of steam, it was so clear that they're just not that great of a team. Everything they do feels so unstructured. Nobody moves without the ball. Harden's careless as a passer. They're not a very athletic team.
