There's a certain paradigm that says there have to be all these plays when sometimes all you need to do is put 5 **** out there and say street bowl Street ball my bowl

I couldn't never been an NBA coach because I would tell Bradley bill I'm gonna work him in 10 minutes at a time His 1st game back he might only get 10 minutes if I was the coach because hes already making all the **** money why change the chemistry

It wasn't a fluke, we just went with what they gave us. Gafford can score efficiently when given the ball in the right spots. I'm not saying he's going to at the pace he did tonight, but CHA is prime pickings for going inside.

It's worth a shot against certain line-up's, Charlotte is soft in the middle and we didn't exploit it last night when we were ice cold.

well that was a weird game. Sad that we wasted a fantastic game from Gafford. Team needs to do the "lets make some 3 point shots" drill they did last time, it seemed to work.
Also I'm not a pro nba coach but if your team has lost confidence collectively in the three then pound the ball inside for a few plays, force the other team to distort the defense inward, and then go back to taking threes in order to punish the defense, instead of out of desperation. Plumlee is not that scary of a defender. Gafford was abusing the crap out of him early on. Pound the ball down low, draw some fouls, regain some confidence. Gafford can do it, Harrel can do it.

Agreed about the playing Trez and Gafford thing, at least for this game. After we blew the lead I was hoping Unseld would experiment with throwing them out there together. Nothing was working at that point, and continued not to work, so I would have been interesting to test out.
I figure Unseld didnt role it out because he believes it would be a switching nightmare that would effect the base defense and frankly because we have another game tonight. After they made that run, where we almost appeared to vindictively shoot threes, game was pretty much over. Charlotte got into a great flow; we had no confidence shooting after building the Taj Mahal. Again that KCP pull-up three with an advantage on the three, you knew we’d blown the game.

I didn't watch the game, but the box score indicates that Beal was the only non-center to play well. He shot efficiently, led the team in assists with 7, and had just 2 turnovers. Everyone else was horrific. Guys other than Beal and the centers shot 9-49. That's 18% FG%!
I don't understand the blaming of Beal.

With respect, I think in this case you are wrong. Someone else posted it earlier - what we should have done was skip the 3s and fed Harrell and Gafford continuously. Of course, that is easy to say after the game

I think the Gafford/Kuzma and Harrell/Avidja combos are pretty darn good - kudos to Wes.
How often will we see Avidja/Kuzma combo going 2/15 from 3. If they just go 5/15 we are right there.

In hindsight, not the worse L.....they can’t rely on the 3 and there is no way they gonna miss that many 3s again as a team. It was contagious....on to Miami

Yeah I'm there with you on that one, some were quick to pile on Beal last night after some early misses, but he was the least of our concerns offensively though he was lackadaisical on quite a few defensive plays. Granted, I will say I few of his threes towards the end felt pretty meaningless given that Charlotte had taken control of the game and tempo.
But the spotlight should be on others. Dinwiddie, Kuzma, KCP, and Deni basically all decided that they were content with throwing up bad threes all night. They were, wait for it, 2 for 24 from three, that's a ton of threes taken shooting at an 8% clip.

A bit of a blemish on Unseld's game management in this one.
It's ok to have faith in your team to work through issues, but that 5 minute spurt in the 3rd put the game out of reach and it didn't seem like we had a coherent plan to stem the tide.
Neto and Holiday on Ball were some horrendous mismatches that really put this team in a hole defensively and I didn't like that we kept playing right into the Hornets hands by letting them get in transition by continuing to take those lazy long distance shots against their zone defense.
Now one thing that has nothing to do with coaching, there seemed to be a collective weight on this team for what seemed like the first time I have seen them play this season.
Low energy and not a lot of fight there when the game was in the balance.

This is a great point, I was thinking the same. Literally a double edged sword we were content with falling on. Those threes made it so easy to score with long rebounds and running out. They didn't have to use any energy on defense and we weren't able to set our defense.
Miami is not the team you want on a second of back-to-back in MIA, but I'm glad we get to play so quickly so maybe we can exercise some of those demons from last game. Looks like they'll have Bam and Lowry back tonight though...

That Beal pass to kuzma for a contested 3 when he had that plumlee mismatched on the perimeter killed our energy
Dimwiddie kept telling him to pass it though

The test for Wes Jr. is how he counters teams going zone (or other defenses designed to force us to shoot 3s). Tonight is too soon to judge, and I don't expect Miami to go zone. But the next Charlotte game should be enough time for the coaching staff to come up with a response. Maybe just shooting the 3 better is the answer, but I hope to see schemes to break down the zone. From what Wes Jr. and his staff have done so far, I think it is likely we will see new wrinkles.

We are shooting 32.3% from 3 on the season. Only 4 teams are worse.
