Basically, it sounds like there is smoke around us chasing for Jeremi Grant, with some variations including Olynyk and/or Bey, and others focusing on picks going out with Grant.

Then there’s a nugget about half the FO wanting to hold Simmons all year so they can pursue a Harden sign and trade.

”The team has engaged in ongoing discussions with the Detroit Pistons to acquire Grant, another forward, a young player, and a draft pick in exchange for Simmons, league sources said. One source said power forward/center Kelly Olynyk and second-year swingman Saddiq Bey were mentioned as players who could be included in a possible deal. However, a source said the Pistons are unlikely to include Bey, a Villanova product, or Olynyk.

A person close to the Sixers said the team would want a more high-profile player than Grant in exchange for Simmons. The source added that the team hasn’t spoken to the Pistons lately.

But multiple sources said the Sixers have, and that the discussions were centered around Grant. The Athletic reported Thursday the Sixers have a list of 30 players they’d accept in a Simmons trade.

However, several members of the front office are keen on the idea of keeping Simmons this season and pursuing Harden from the Brooklyn Nets for a sign and trade, according to multiple sources.”

Please let this be true! I would do Simmons straight up for Grant but adding Bey would be a dream come true!

30% 3 point shooter that doesn't pass and also wants to pound the air out of the basketball. He's another tank commander like Tobias that can put up great statlines on bad teams, but his impact would be heavily mitigated alongside Joel Embiid and without much symbiosis.

I'd take Bey over Grant super easily from his own team.

Grant has a flippable contract but he should not be close to the list of 30 players the Sixers would accept in trade. Grant's value is more Tobias, Thybulle and a FRP for Grant and $10M bad salary.

Sixers say no. Take out Keldon and Lonnie, and add Vassell and two lightly protected 1sts? That should be a yes IMO.

Grant would be a secondary target in a three team trade. He has value as an oversized Danny Green, but if they wanted him as the primary piece for Simmons it would be a long ago done deal. Deal for Murray, Halliburton, etc could involve assets moving to Detroit for Grant, but not a Simmons for Jerami primary deal.

Ive been telling you guys this right?

Jerami Grant.

If we can get him for Tobi, it would be alot better.

If we get Ben for Grant. Then we can trade additional assets from the Grant trade and attach it to Tobi to get us picks or a guard scorer.

Tobi has no place in this team without a big PF like Ben playing with him. Unless you’re going to stick with Niang at the starting unit like what we did in this Nuggets game

no more clunky PFs pls.

Grant would be a nice Tobias replacement not to play next to him. Same for Siakham. Big Point Guard types or Shot creating wings is the next piece the team needs. Not sure if that is obtainable for Ben but the last thing this current roster needs is more tweener spot up dudes

May I ask why you think Raps should be the one giving all those picks for Ben? I do think it should be the other way around.

If we have Steph Curry, instead of Seth Curry, we can just say F defense and just go keep trying to be better on offense.

But even the Warriors play with a frontcourt of Kevin Looney and Draymond Green. Do they have clunky offense?

The major reason why we had clunky offense was not because we had a big frontcourt in 2019-2020.

The major reason why we had a clunky offense is because we had a PG who can’t run PICK AND ROLL and a SHOOTING guard who can’t shoot (josh richardson)

Embiid can space the floor. He’s actually more of a perimeter scorer than a paint scorer based on the average distance of his FGs. It’s not like we have Amare and Shaq with Steve Nash running the PnR.

While you wont be able to win the championship without beating the Bucks in the east. And you wont beat the Bucks with Tobias Harris defending Giannis and it would be very difficult to beat the Bucks with Brolo crashing the board getting Bucks extra possessions with Tobi boxing him out similar to how Sixers got outrebounded by Raps (because we put Tobi on Gasol) that played a big role in our 2019 playoff series against the Raptors.

Based on how we’re playing right now, I do think it shows how we dont need that perimeter shot creator that much compared to the need of more size in our frontcourt.

The last game against the Nuggets, Doc addressed this with the Niang-Tobi-Drummond frontcourt. He’d been running the Niang-Tobi 3&4 duo quite more frequent recently. It may solve our size problem, but I believe its more of a temporary band-aid solution.

Why would the Pistons be enticed to acquire Harris? I get Simmons as a fairly young dynamic wing to pair with Cunningham, but Harris seems like a mis-fit for the Pistons.

I don't think that Siakam or Grant are bad centerpieces, but it has to be combined with a Harris trade. Two big wings that aren't volume perimeter shooters is a big no-go for me.
