Why the lack off effort? Well let me see... maybe because he's coming back from a major injury/surgery and it's only his 5th game after a 6 month layoff? He's literally in pre-season mode right now, while the rest of the guys he's playing around/against have their legs under them and this is literally the point of the season where players are the "freshest"/healthiest. The guys that have been playing since training camp/preseason have their conditioning in check, Siakam who missed all of that obviously doesn't and it'll take him some time.
People love to hate this dude for no reason...
He was fine the first 4 games, had 2 consecutive good games before last night, but 1 bad performance and people jump on his ass like he's the sole reason we lost last night? Ha.
Been said over and over again... the praise for Siakam is never as loud as the slander.
"Hate" thats a big lol
"1 bad performance" - another lol
come one man, how can you type these things with a straight face.
good positioning? man are you ever out to lunch - hes slow to rotate, doesnt box out at all, look at the 11 second mark, he does a 360 to look around in place, doesnt put a body on anyone, ball actually bounces towards him and he still doesnt get the ball, then at the 14 second mark, he doesnt step up on the ball, doesnt recognize the shooter in the play is open, and actually steps away from the ball leaving Scottie to mark 2 people
at thee 22 second mark he gives no help and isnt on the shooter, literally a pilon
at the 35 second mark, he switches onto mitchell and does nothing to hound him, literally just backs up with arms down and gives up an easy shot
at 46 - ok fine, we can say joe ingles got away with a push --- or we can confirm once again how soft siakam is that joe ingles can bully him in the paint..
at 53 he is literally guarding NO ONE
'
at 1 minute mark, again guarding no one, when his job is to be close to the big, because you know, literally no one is on his side of the court with the big man
1:13 mark - ok he did his job to clog the lane - 2 arms legnths away from anyone ... very useful
First play: Siakam was caught overhelping close enough to Gobert under the rim while not giving too much space to both Ingles and Conley (because Flynn was in no man's land after Conley's initial drive) but did a decent job getting out to contest the Ingles 3.
Second play: what the heck is Scottie doing? Doubles O'Neale and leaves Bogdanovic WIDE open in the corner then barely even jogs for the fake contest
Third play: GTJ gambles for the steal rather than funneling Mitchell into the middle of the paint
Fourth play: bad defence from Siakam. Mitchell made a good read pulling up for that easy midrange jumper rather than trying to score over Siakam and Birch
Fifth play: Ingles pushes off a bit. Probably not a foul, but Siakam was caught in between defending the drive and the pass because Boucher died on the screen then didn't hustle back to cover Gobert
Sixth play: bad transition defence, but that isn't Siakam's fault at all. Siakam literally took a corner three from the far side 6 seconds before O'Neale made that 3. FVV unnecessarily doubled Bogdanovic. GTJ was in perfect position to guard Bogdanovic 1-on-1
Seventh play: literally just a great pass from Ingles. We could have had anyone defending that and there was no chance at stopping the pass or sealing off Gobert because of his screen that GTJ avoided entirely that opened up all of the space in the world on that side of the floor
Last play: Svi was way too far up on Ingles and died on the weakest screen. He made an effort to recover, but it was too late at that point and Siakam was caught in between defending the Ingles drive or Gobert on the pass. Another great pass from Ingles

you know how bad our bench is? Banton -18. and he's supposed to be a leader of our bench and our sparkplug.

1:13 mark - ok he did his job to clog the lane - 2 arms legnths away from anyone ... very useful
11 second mark - He looks back to see if O'Neal is gonna rush in for the rebound. You expect him to box him out O'Neal who is standing behind the arc? The ball is clearly much closer to Bogdanovic who is just quicker on his feet in that situation and just needs to tap the ball back.
22 second mark - He prevents Gobert from getting way ahead of Barnes for the easy deuce then pivots a bit to the corner to block off the passing lane for an O'Neal wide open 3. Re-watch this possession. Trent just makes a bad defensive play tryna go for the steal by reaching in from the back and completely gets dusted by Mitchell who has a wide open lane to the rim. Weird for you to blame Siakam on this possession.
35 second mark - This one I agree on. His lack of effort on full display with him not contesting the shot. Doesn't put his arms up. Bad defense.
46 second mark - Much better effort here. Hands up the entire time. Ingles just pushes off on Siakam to get himself a bit of space to get the shot off the glass.
53 second mark - This entire defensive sequence is a miscommunication/misreading by FVV & Trent, yet for whatever reason you're blaming Siakam for it? It was plain stupid for FVV to leave O'Neal wide open in the corner. Trent made a late recovery to Bogdanovic and was there to contest any potential shot.
1 minute mark - Right read. Prevents Ingles from driving to the lane but a bit slow on the feet and isn't able to shift back to Gobert in time.
1:13 mark - Switches onto Ingles to prevent a wide open 3 since Svi gets lost in the Gobert screen. The real WTF here is Boucher's defense. He sees Gobert with a open lane to the rim and doesn't bother putting a body on him. Then to make matters worse he gives him a weak shove from the back for which he should've been called for a foul and it should've been an And-1 for Gobert.

He looked to see if o’neal was rushing in for a board? Is that a joke? He simply went for the ball and missed it, I can’t believe what I’m reading here.
There’s no defending his effort and missed rotations.

Quite a few narratives out there on a number of our players being issues offensively. But that really is not our problem. WTH are we doing with our defence that supposedly has good pieces.

I think the main takeaway to remember is he isn't the only one making mistakes on d out there. Still I maintain that this team is better when Pascal commits himself to get 10+ rebounds than when he tries to score 20+ pts

There’s no defending his effort out there. Him playing like he does causes everyone else to scramble it’s a cause and effect.
If you believe Flynn was in no mans land it’s time to use your eyes numbers can’t measure everything especially on defence.

Sacramento is one of the stupidest franchises in the history of this league.
And no, I really don't think Masai would take that deal. Do you think Fox's game fits what this team is trying to accomplish? Do you think he is a good defender? If you guys hate FVV, I can't imagine how much you guys would hate Fox.
"When Fox was on the court last season, the Kings’ defensive rating (per 100 possessions) soared to a whopping 118, two points worse than the previously recorded worst in history. When Fox was off the court, the team’s rating was rated 10th overall in the league at 111.8."
Doesn't seem like a Masai type player right there.
dude cannot shoot from 3 and with more physical play and refs holding their whistle, Fox has definitely not benefitted

No rim protector to funnel drives into.
And our coach forcing us to play a style of defense that collapses yo leave a guy open at the 3pt line by design.

I feel like Scottie's been slipping lately. I'd like a big game from him - Kings can't guard him because he is too strong.
Scottie hasn't hit a three since October 29.
