He's the most unathletic athletic player I've ever seen.
I am fully confident he will be dunking all over people once he learns body control. Dudes built like a bull
I'm hopeful, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm happy with what he can provide otherwise though. Most encouraging is his midrange shot and foul shooting. His best asset is his decision making. He's a great imitator and a pretty poor finisher. It's definitely fixable with his size, but it'll be hard to change his mentality. He's not used to finishing through size. Doesn't have a pump fake and doesn't really go up strong. All learnable stuff, but we'll see at this stage.
I can still see him as a lead imitator on a championship team though.
He's settled into a complimentary role since Siakam's come back. I predicted averages of 13, 7 and 7 with a couple of steals and a block. To start the season with Siakam out, his scoring was up, and his assists were down, but now he's getting closer to respectable scoring and solid rebounds and assists and I think that's best for the success of the team. We have guys who are much better prepared to score. The key to keep Scottie engaged will be putting the ball in his hands and letting him make decisions. I think he was also likely tired today.
One thing that I also predict with him, which I'm less a fan of is that he's a highly emotional player and he'll have emotional highs and lows on the court that will affect his play, and potentially engagement. Again, the best way to mitigate that...especially with our guard play, is to put the ball in his hands. I appreciate that the team is taking him out of his comfort zone though. Also good for Fred to hold him accountable.
TLDR; He's got sky high potential even if he doesn't develop his athleticism and aggression, but I wouldn't count on it.
