I didn't expect them to be that great but I expected them to make moves that made them SLIGHTLY better than last year and I accepted their one year punt/two year plan to get the other players in.
This team is significantly worse and has exposed the FO, Randle, RJ, Mitch and the rest of the Knicks youth as not all that.
Otherwise, solid job.
Randle is a super 6th man. We are using him as a #1. RJ/Mitch are still pretty young so... whatever. Not trash but.. not stars at this point. The FO keeping Perry was a bit of a head scratcher. He was not very good to begin with. I won't pretend to know the real pecking order as far as decisions that have been made but... that dude couldn't balance a roster after two years yet... he's still here.
The team is nothing more than it was last year. Other teams improved and we didn't. That's the bottom line. A washed Kemba and Fournier aren't the answer. That much is plain to see.
The team refuses to go young and stick with it. Killing draft position and going in circles is the result. Year after year. Play the kids and live with the results!!! That's not in the cards and it just keeps us on the outside looking in as we ignore the players we do draft. For what? Washed vet role players dominating the minutes? Terrible strategy.
Welcome to mediocrity. Treadmill.
Wow! Having Randle as a sixth man would be great for the team as well as for him. He would win sixth man of the year for sure! If the front office can convince him to be the sixth man I would hope that he embraces it. For the good team.
It will never happen. You don't pay 28mil for a 6th man. He was overpaid if he's gonna continue to play low IQ ball. This makes me question the FO. One decent year and they paid him like a star player. Now he is more like the guy we all wanted to trade. Maybe he turns it around but... I won't hold my breath.
The rest of the team...the vets we have...are not getting anything of value in a trade. Maybe a playoff/contender trades for one if they have injuries but...what are you getting? Late round picks? Low end youth?
The only thing I see in the future...is a treadmill. Not bad enough for high picks...not good enough to contend for a title. Wasting time trying to look competent to attract FA stars? That ship has sailed. All too tier talent gets max deals and then forces a trade. Hardly ever do they enter FA and the only way to get those guys is if they agree to play somewhere together. For some reason(Dolan)...no one wants to play here. The pressure...the media/fans... the owner and his dysfunction? Part or all of the above? Either way...all we can hope for is a miracle in the next few years. Right now all I see is mediocrity at best.
