Why would you support an organization that pours millions into China if you truly want to make a stand against China?

Daryl Morey was a lot braver. He actually could have lost his entire career as a GM. And he was one of the best in the league too.

Enes Kanter making a stand against China as an active NBA player is a much louder and more effective platform than Enes Kanter the former NBA player.
It's not hypocritical to not abstain from any and all Chinese product and culture to stand against the human rights violations of their government. Buying a phone is not the same as defending slavery from one of the biggest platforms anyone in the world has like LeBron did
No kidding. Some of these people just don't seem to get it. Taking this stand while still playing in the nba is the only way for him to bring attention to these issues. If he weren't in the nba no one would be talking about it.

Easy for Enes Kanter to say, he has no clout or endorsements. Tho I do semi respect him he should call out more than just LeBron James if he wants to really talk that talk. Call out the NBA and the commissioner.

i don't get why people think you are a hypocrite if you say something is bad while simultaneously not living a 100% fully ascetic lifestyle. why dedicate yourself to being a speedbump to progress and a crab in a bucket trying to trash on everyone

LeBron James doesn't need yalls e-defense for refusing to disavow slavery from the worlds biggest platform. So pathetic

My G, what dirty work is James doing?

At the time he was protecting his own interests, yes, but also the NBA's. If the NBA loses China, it's a big deal for every player. Would it be admirable for the NBA and its players to take a stand against China? Sure, but it's also a lot to expect. And for domestic issues, NBA players can have a real impact; for example they were able to get owners to agree to use stadiums as voting locations in 2020. China though? Nothing NBA players do or say will impact any of China's actions, be it with the Uyghurs, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or any other human rights violations. What happens if they take a stance against China? China keeps doing the terrible things it's doing, and the NBA loses a massive chunk of its revenue stream, jobs are lost, and the NBA is in a really bad place.

Have you ever heard that old saying, "If the Queen had balls, then she'd be King"? Ignoring the urge to make obvious jokes about Queen James.... it seems like there's a reverse parallel-universe thing going on here, where if the NBA had balls, they'd be the WTA.

Notice all of the personal attacks on Kanter and side stepping of the issue (e.g. why is he attacking LeBron and not the NBA?)

Not one defender of LeBron has actually defended LeBron’s silence or his stance on China…

You don’t want to confront the actual issues here. You’re silent on those.

You just want to make this about “Kanter isn’t brave” etc. because you know Kanter is actually correct and LeBron is wrong on the ACTUAL issues that matter.

Kanter stand and talk.

Lebron walk the walk. Lebron has done more for country quantitively and inspirationally than Kanter could dream of.
You are delusional. LeBron at this point is just a race baiting social justice warrior. Did he ever apologize for threatening that cop who saved that girl's life when she was about to be stabbed. Or how about calling people racist when the guy was supposedly trying to buy a bicycle for his son and was arrested only to find out that he was riding around in the store acting like a jerk and the store manager who was black called the cops on him.

This is actually pretty awesome. Kanter walks the walk and even went at Erdogan.

Lebron, Klutch, ESPN, and whoever else should just be quiet and take the L on this one.

He went at Erdogan while being under the protection of the United States. I personally would never leave my intimidate family alone in the harm way , because of my own actions , its a cowardly way .

LeBron sold out for money and legacy, China promised they would propel him to top 3 status all time with their worldwide media machine, global influence and unparalleled propaganda manipulation, that there would be statues built of him throughout Asia with unlimited money for him in exchange for his support and silence on horrific issues.

So, by this logic, you would only respect Kanter if he went to Istanbul and wore a sandwich board in front of Erdogan's palace? Huh?

You do understand this is a regime who hired Michael Flynn to see if he could orchestrate the KIDNAPPING of a Turkish dissident in the US because Erdogan didn't like what he was saying. But you will only respect KAnter if he goes to Turkey and says this stuff...right?

I simply cannot engage with this kind of logic. I think it is time for the mods to lock this thread.

So you don't care about sources , if Jeff Bozo's news outlet claim there is a genocide in China but they don't present any legit source you will still take that as the gospel  Haven't we learned enough by know how the Pentagon and the State Department are operating , Iraq's weapons of mass destruction , they can say blatant lie to entire world and then proceed to wreck entire country and to destabilize entire region for decades , and there wont be any consequences for those people and they will continue doing that to many other countries, because they have power to do that .

This is what happened IN THE UNITED STATES when protesters in DC tried to speak out when Erdogan was IN OUR COUNTRY.

Trump did NOTHING.

So, unless Kanter has the "balls" to say what he is saying in Turkey, to you it is nothing but self-serving "performance art"?

While i agree that the US have committed atrocious act against humanity and is still doing it you cant care about everything going around in the world it's impossible. Also it's understandable Kanter would target China's treatment of Uyghurs with him being a muslim and all.

That is the same reasoning many Americans give about all these social justice progressive agendas. You can't care about everything:

- climate change
- racism
- sexism
- United States "troubled history"
- representation
- the alphabet community
- homelessness
- police brutality

That is eight causes that I thought of off the top of my head, I'm sure I could find ten more causes that many people feel strongly about. But people cannot care about everything....and many of us are tired of people telling us to care about everything. You can only do what you can do and still remain sane.

But progressives/liberals want to tell people how to think and feel. Especially with our entertainment. If Lebron does not have to care about China's inhumane treatment of their people and others, then why does any person have to care about any other social justice issue. But nooooo, they keep cramming social justice down our throats everyday.

So then when Lebron gets called out for not caring about something he is directly tied to and profits from it seems very hypocritical of posters on this board who supporter Lebron with BLM, kneeling during the anthem, and Lebron tweeting about cops.

You can't pick and choose when you want to push your agendas......
I'm so tired of the typical......

I don't even care too much about the geopolitical argument that he's bringing up, though I have my own opinions.

I'm just enjoying he's trolling LeBron, a jagoff who is constantly willing to provide his own opinion on everything, regardless of his knowledge about it.

How the F does that make ANY sense? Huh?

Yeah - take on China, Nike and LeBron in one fell swoop. I am sure that will GUARANTEE that Kanter gets a great new contract from a team whose merchandise and games will be INSTANTLY banned from China. I can just see the line of GM’s who CAN’T WAIT to give Kanter a big new deal!

Do some of you who post stuff like this even THINK about what you are saying before you say it?

(bebop shakes his head in utter disbelief)
,
Of course he's doing it for an attention and he's the tool for the mainstream media , the big networks to stir more conflict with China, its been a long time since USA started a new conflict , there has to be a new region, new frontier . If he really cares about killings and genocide , he would be protesting in front of the White House , starvation and bombing of Yemen, USA efforts to overthrow governments in South America etc , he's not any kind of hero, he's the rich guy who left his family behind in the harm way , try to picture himself as some great justice warrior , out of his expensive mansion , he wont fool me , he's fake as they come.

Dude, you're typing away from behind a keybaord with an alias and you call someone a fake who has placed himself on a most wanted list in his country for speaking up. GTFOH.

The irony here is overflowing.

MLKj sacrificed. What has Kanter sacrificed? Nothing at all. It’s easy to talk when you have nothing on the line. He is still collecting NBA checks. Wearing Nikes.
What a stupid comment. Kanter has been banned from his home country of Turkey for taking a stand against its government. He gets non stop death threats. I may not agree with him on certain things but there is no doubt he has sacrificed far more than most people.
