Dude is literally using the league, it's popularity and his platform to call out Nike and China.

Lebron is just an empty vessel being used. It's not personal.

But if you're gonna call out China, might as well call out the poster child for Nike too.

It's really clever, actually. NBA should tread carefully. Just blackballing him would ironically be the authoritative, China-like move. Lol.

Pretty much checkmate.

Again, the guy has gone after 3 Right Wing authoritarian figures in the last 5 years:

Xi
Trump
Erdogan

Probably has a substantial amount of money on his head from the henchmen of those 3 figures alone.

By publicly going after Lebron and China, he's now risking his economic security with the league while making Nike angry as well.

Dude has some massive stones.

He's risking his economic security, as there's a non-zero chance he could eventually get blackballed from the NBA, but his life isn't in jeopardy unless he steps foot in Turkey or China.

Ridiculous response. "Not in jeopardy" just because he's not in those countries? You think that's how right wing authoritarianism works, huh?

Interesting.

You watch way too many movies if that's where your mind went. Lol.

But now that I see how you think, it's best to just disengage.

Maybe because you're being strangely coy and not directly saying whatever you're trying to say. How is his life in jeopardy while he's here in the US? Be specific please.

And I'm the one who watches too many movies. You literally said "Probably has a substantial amount of money on his head from the henchmen of those 3 figures alone"

"Henchmen"? lol

Yeah that's like the one place they wouldn't. It's a big deal he can't essentially ever risk going back to the country he grew up in for political speech.

Yes this part is true. He can't step foot in Turkey again, and that is a sacrifice, but he has nothing to worry about here as far as his safety is concerned.

Somebody please enlighten me on how it takes stones to go after Trump when people did that for 4 years straight? Also someone please enlighten me on how Trump was an authoritarian figure during his time as president.

How do I delete someone else's comment? I feel so bad for you that I want to scrub the world of this attempt at a "gotcha." Oy **** vey.

You and everyone else criticizing LeBron on this issue regularly consume goods manufactured by slave labor in China. You’re probably typing out your responses on an electronic device manufactured by slave labor in China. You have no issue with that, but you’ll act all outraged about a comment LeBron made two years ago about China. Give me a break.

We don't always have a choice in buying goods. LeBorn should have kept his ignorant mouth shut.

People who think that Kanter is 'only' unsafe in Turkey or China after calling out Erdogan and Xi just really don't have a solid grasp of power and how it transcends borders.

Funny stuff.

Projection much?

This thread is full of Alex Jones types denying a genocide to protect the image of an NBA player.

Only a handful of people in this thread are operating within the realm of reality.

Yet you're still unable to explain clearly how his life is in jeopardy here. I expect the vagueness is a result of you wanting to seem like you know what you're talking about without actually knowing what you're talking about.

Well attempting to overturn the results of a democratic election in order to stay in power is a good place to start, but maybe don't go there in this thread.

I think there's PLENTY of historical evidence of people's lives being at risk for speaking out against authoritarianism. I obviously can't 'prove' that his life is at risk, but I can project it based off history.

All good though.

Trump Supporters and Lebron stans bumping heads... while both propping up egotistical sociopaths who both prop up Erdogan and Xi respectively, is unexpected comedy for a Saturday.

People usually don't have the marbles to flat out deny it. People usually like to maintain some plausible deniability.
