No question about it, the teams can't afford to lose more talent.

Lose Jalen for nothing would be the headstone on this team by Cuban ... Maybe It was his plan.

Wait, so you’re saying it was Cuban’s plan to be the death of this team? That’s what you’re saying?

So the signing of WCS has convinced you that Cuban is trying to sabotage this team?

Was obviously a joke... But on the other hand, in all seriousness, if you resign a guy like WCS or Burke and you fail to resign a guy like Brunson (for whatever reasons), then you should be questioned what exactly is your plan with the team.

WCS and Burke are on minimal deals. What if someone, like the Knicks who are rumored to be interested in Brunson, off him a deal in the $25M per year range? Should the Mavs match that?

Depends on cost. If some team with cap space offers Brunson $25M per year like a Harrison Barnes type of contract, I'd back off.

The last 3 off seasons said that... Bullock 30M contract is a Powell type contract. The death for this team.

It's incredible how easy is upgrade this weak roster but Cuban find a way to add only bad players.
A blind man could make a better work for sure

Do you guys even know there's a salary cap? The Knicks are over the cap they can't offsr 25m if the wanted to snd if they could they're already paying Kemba and rose 25m combined so why would they double that with another guard?

The Knicks could move Rose with no problems. If the Lakers were smart they would move Westbrook and then trade for Rose. And Kemba has 1 more year at $9M. They may have to eat that contract but even if they do they could find cap room elsewhere. Their two big contracts are Julius Randle, who makes about $25M and Evan Fournier at $19M. I think they could easily clear $25M for Brunson if they wanted him that bad.

A Josh Hart contract $12.5 million per year or less is what I will hope for. I want Brunson back.

Absolutely. They also need to find a bigger guard. Someone in the 6'3-6'5 range.

I'm trying to think of options that could be obtained w/o giving up too much.

How about an RJ Hampton for Josh Green swap?

This will not move the needle currently but could be a good one in the long run. Hampton is obviously raw but he's a 6'4" combo guard, quite speedy, can play some defense, and has a decent dribble and shooting action. He had a good game against the Bucks recently... but don't be fooled by that as he still has a way to go. Anyway, I like him a prospect to develop.

Brunson will be back. He will improve as he develops even more. Where we need help is at the 3 and a real bruiser at 4 or 5

I'd do it, but I don't think the Magic would.

Brunson is featuring very highly on FiveThirtyEight's ratings.

1) 5th on Total Raptor... behind Jokic, Giannis, Curry, Gobert.
2) 5th on Offensive Raptor... behind Curry, Jokic, Young, Giannis.

The Mavs really need to figure this out, i.e., how to re-sign him to a reasonable contract... or to parlay these ratings into obtaining the biggest return possible in a trade. Can't afford to lose him in FA for nothing, as he is one of few good assets.
