Cubs Fans Name Baby Boy Wrigley Fields

CHICAGO - His parents say he can go by his middle name when he's old enough to decide.

For now, the newborn will be known by his first name: Wrigley.

And his last name: Fields.

His parents are Paul and Teri Fields of Michigan City, Ind. They are _ no surprise _ fans of the Cubs, who have played at Wrigley Field since 1916. The Fields planned the name for years before their son's birth.

Wrigley Alexander Fields was born Sept. 12 at an Indiana hospital.

Cubs spokeswoman Katelyn Thrall said the name may be a first. The team has no record of other children named Wrigley, although there have been some children names Zambrano and Ryne after Cubs stars Carlos Zambrano and Ryne Sandberg.

Interesting, I have two cousins with similar ties.

One cousin named Addison, another with the middle name Ryne.

Nothing beats the Arena family who, diehard Red Wings fans that they were, named their son Joe Louis Arena.

No chance, that kid is being born and raised a Cubs fan, judging by the name.

yeah, but you cant force it, you know? its like the religious parents that raise their kids to be perfect, but end up rebeling.

i would just have the boy watch the cubs game w/ me and let him choose. (but taking him to wrigley at an early age, to see how great it is, might do trick real quick.)

Some people don't have such a narrow view on life as you so eloquently demonstrate.

If my last name were Clark, I would be glad to have a kid named "Addison."

My girlfriend and I agreed one night if we ever had kids that I'd get to name any boys and she would name any girls. So I do have a bit of free reign if we stay together.

I'd be cool with Derrek Doyle. The spelling would hopefully be recognized by true Cubs fans as a homage to Lee, and Lee could be a middle name I suppose. Still isn't as cool as Reggie Lewis Doyle or Larry Bird Doyle, but I'm sure those would be vetoed for the kids sake.
